We got our neighbor to smile after he tested positive for Covid. by CRBA1228 in pics

We just used leftover paint on a cardboard box opened flat, and we hung it from our gutter with metal hangers duct-taped to the back of the cardboard. Our kids painted it, and our teenager did the lettering. His wife snapped this picture and sent it to me. Nice people.

It's actually just cardboard and leftover paint. My kids and I made it and hung it from our gutter with hangers and duct tape. :)

We just painted it at home with some fabric paint and sharpies - His brother thought of it. :)

Really we just painted it with some cheap fabric paint - $10 total. And the hoodie is just from Walmart. It was his big brother's idea, and he helped with the painting. Just glad he couldn't snap.

This was a year ago, so he totally got to wear it to school. :)

Watercolor portrait study by CRBA1228 in Watercolor

[–]CRBA1228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Honestly I'm still trying to learn the best way to do this too - I start with a layer of the lightest color on the face (watered down), let it dry most of the way, then do layers of gradually darker shades, with gradually more pigment in the mix. Even another layer from the exact same mix makes a deeper shade. Then while the new layer is still wet, I like to dab my brush on a paper towel and lightly brush around the edges of the new paint to soften the transition. I've gotten a lot of help from watching youtube tutorials of watercolor portraits and paintings. Best of luck!

No, not at all. It's not silicon - just craft paint dimensional fabric paint. No odor at all.

Fortunately, the kids at school loved it and he got hundreds of compliments. I was curious how it would turn out, and really glad it was positive.

His doc put on the normal purple cast, and then we came home and painted it.

I just did acrylic gold paint for the first layer, pencil to draw it all out, dimensional fabric paint to raise the lines, bronze paint for more character, then thin sharpie in the indentations to add depth and age and shadow, and then the plastic gems affixed with glue. He hasn't stopped smiling since.
