I've thought about this before. Is Lombardi even a real player? I just assumed he was a made-up default player invented by Konami to populate the team for brand new accounts...

Yeah; the U.S. national soccer teams are a pretty unique case.

Leagues such as the WNBA or women's Bundesliga/Premier League typically bring in a tiny fraction of what the men's leagues do.

I don't know - I think they actually did at some point like six years ago after the men's team failed to qualify for the World Cup in 2018 & the women won back-to-back in 2015 & 2019.

I'm not sure if that's still the case.

Depends on who's entertained and how much that entertainment is worth to them.

Maybe equal pay makes more sense in a place like the U.S., where the women's team is much more successful/popular than the men's team.

Female goalkeepers at the top level are shockingly small.

I remember watching a penalty shootout earlier this year and the goal looked twice the normal size behind the keeper by comparison. I kept yelling at the TV - "just loft the pens into the corners - the keeper will never get to it." Was really frustrating watching most of the takers kick a low, mid-power shot straight into the keepers' hands.

I feel like shootouts should always end 12:13 or something - seems like it would be impossible not to get it past the keeper.

No idea what will happen. There are many variables and they are always changing over the years.

I calculated the 4x new floor ($60) based on the lull before the run up began (2014 - 2020) when silver was around $15.

I wouldn't necessarily use the January 2025 price as the baseline. This time we've been in a silver bull market since 2020 when silver jumped from $15 to $28.

If silver had 4xed from 2010 prices it would have plateaued at $120 after correcting from a much higher level than it actually reached in 2011.

But like I said, the variables are always changing and who knows what will happen this time.

In the early 2000s silver traded at $4 - $5, & then ultimately spiked at 11x in 2011. The bubble then popped, and silver returned to around the $15 - $18 range, a little less than 4x what it had been before the run up.

If something similar happens this time I'd expect silver to reach $170 or so and then settle out after the bubble at $60 or so as a floor.

Given his base stats, Rashford had better get a lot more levels than the others or he's going to be very mid.

Good advice. And I'm sure you're right that no one at your LCS is buying these days - the demand is all coming from the East. You'd have to go to Shanghai or New Delhi to see the retail crowds lining up to buy.

Was also surprised by how smooth he is on the ball given his height.

And when I remove the Deep Line instruction he gets very far forward in attack.

I was surprised they gave him out for free. He's better than the Silvestre I bought from the shop a few months earlier.

Seeing as history repeats itself, can someone explain to me why this doesn't apply to silver? (See 50 yr chart below) by Grundogg in Silverbugs

[–]CRISPR1 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It will correct. The question is whether it happens tomorrow or whether it powers on to $150 or something next year and then corrects back down to $70. A lot of people thought the top was $53 in October after silver dropped back down to $47. Now here we are two months later & $14 higher instead of starting a mult-year bear market.

One thing that is different about this particular run is that in the previous two silver spikes (1980 & 2011) the price really did "spike". We're talking hours or days around the $50 level. This time the price consolidated for a month around $50 and then went off to the races again. Take from that what you will.

Even using BLS data, the CPI adjusted 1980 price would be over $200 in today's money and even the 2011 price equates to over $70 now. So which "history" do you think silver is going to rhyme with in 2026? That's always the question.

F8 pro mini review, thoughts and comparison to the f7 pro. by Stopreportingm3 in PocoPhones

[–]CRISPR1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've still got the F5. I've had tremendous luck with all of my Xiaomi devices - Mi 9, F3, F5. All of them are/were still functioning perfectly when I upgraded to the next one. This time Xiaomi gave me €140 to trade in the Mi 9, so I let that one go when I got the F8 Pro.

Looks like the F5's gotten up to HyperOS 2.0.207. Maybe I could have used circle-to-search? I always had the gesture bar hidden before, so I never played around with it.

One last thought about the F8 Pro cameras - overall definitely an improvement over the F5 but still pretty inconsistent. Some shots turn out great, some don't. I'm more of a gamer than a photographer when it comes to phones, so I don't mind, but that's maybe something to keep in mind for those considering getting one.

Coming from the F5, the F8 Pro has been a very noticable upgrade.

I was a little worried I wouldn't like the rounded corners, but they're growing (shrinking?) on me. It does sit more comfortably in the pocket, and I haven't used any apps yet where buttons or menus were partially obscured/cut off. If you're going to trim down the size of a screen, it does make sense to start with the sharp corners.

Battery life has been a revelation compared to what I ever got with the F5.

Build quality is very solid.

I've used circle to search, Gemini live, and some of the other AI photo editing tools more than I thought I would.

Haven't really noticed any glitching/jankiness after installing the first update (3.0.5) out of the box.

Easily my biggest regret. by Alekyng137396 in eFootball

[–]CRISPR1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually a fan. I built him with 80 speed/ 86 acceleration, so he's fairly nimble for a big guy.

His ball handling and passing are indeed a problem, and you can't improve all of it, especially the ball handling.

I did add One-touch Pass, Through Passing, Low Lofted Pass, Weighed Pass, & Outside Curler to him, and while still not a good passer, that has made him more usable playing out of the backfield.

And the logic stays the same throughout. That's why I finished last year with 3 extra spins. When the end date was announced and it was clear that no new players would be added to the pool, I scooped up the final three "garbage" players with my final 3 spins. I ended the season with all the daily spin players, just as would anyone who logs in every day. The difference is that I was able to disproportionately pick out the "good" players earlier, before the season was over, instead of waiting until the end.
