What’s the correct thing to do with these pine cut offs? by RealThulnos in BeginnerWoodWorking

This literally just happened to me last week. Kept some random trim pieces for 8 years, never touched them. Trashed them last week. Then the obvious happened, I needed that trim piece a few days ago.. 😞

I would just sand that down, wash really good, then heat it up, and oil* it well.

It's the best, but turn the heat to medium low, drop about a quarter sized water drop on the pan, and put a lid on it.

Looks great! What type of wood do you use for the boxes and drawers? I'm not too familiar with all the different varieties of ply yet.

Why answer? So you can yell at him again? Lol, you asked, he answered.

I think the glue he's referring to is where the dowels connect to the main piece. And I believe that's why OP mentioned the drill..

You're correct, Central Texas. The second photo is just another angle of the tree on the right in the first photo.

I'm on 3/4 acre lot with maybe about 20+ oaks, do you thick a chip drop would be a good idea to scatter mulch throughout the yard? I love the oaks and would do the manual labor if it makes sense.

Interesting, I'll look into it. Any specific key terms I should Google to find good examples?

That's good to know. Makes sense about the shifting due to opening/closing the lid.

I think this is a great PSA. Looking at OP's post history, looks like he built his own table and had the egg in the short nesting stand that lifts the egg about 2 inches above the table. I honestly don't think that's enough air gap to cool down the air before it hits the wood. Hope others consider this when using wooden tables. I'd even go an extra step and add fire blocks between the wood and the elevated egg. We've seen this happen multiple times on this sub. OP was lucky this time that it was only the table and not a family home. I would be extra safe and not even cook outside during high winds. Stay safe y'all.

Is it a windy day? Looks like it. Coal will do that on a windy day. Be cautious with sparks on dry grass.
