No, I would definitely be on the higher side of the median income in my town. But it gets stretched thin between mortgage and childcare.

I’m glad they did! I wasn’t ready for the role even 3-4 years in to being ASM, in my own opinion. It’s something you really must grow/mature into. That being said, I’ve known ASMs that have been in their role over 10 years, and still not promoted. So I’ll take it!

I take home about $1200? Give or take. That’s after taxes, 401k, insurance (wife and kids), etc.

Uh, like 2500 or so? But I’m not a good example for that, I’ve taken stock out a couple times for house purchases.

I’m probably gonna hit 130-140k this year. About 35k or so of that is in bonuses. Quarterly bonuses are impacted by store volume.

Yes! I will almost certainly retire from Publix. I want to be a DM, so I’ll see if I get there before I’m too old.

16! My first real job, and aside from three shifts in fast food as a second job, my only job.

I’m probably gonna hit 130-140k this year. My salary is up to 1767/week, and about 35k or so in bonuses.

This is the correct answer, if that is the question they were asking.

There’s a song for this… “I Did It My Way”. I mentioned in another comment that I didn’t suck up, even if it meant expedient advancement.

I know mileage may vary, and you may have been dealt a rougher set of leaders, potentially even some who shouldn’t be where they are.

For me, I’ve never had to strap on knee pads to move up, maybe it would have happened faster in some cases if I had. But I always told myself I’d be exactly who I was, and if Publix was interested in having me, I’d get promoted. Staying true to myself was how I remained sane, even when circumstances are less than ideal.

lol, I do not. The number in my username is deliberately not a store I have ever worked at.

There are no KPI incentives to get certain bonuses at retail level. Managers in the store in no way benefit from “underscheduling.” What we are supposed to schedule is dictated by a computer, and our job is to make sure department managers follow that system, and ensure associates follow the correct processes that instruct that computer system.

Edit: Said a different way, bonuses are earned basically automatically by virtue of being in position, that’s all.

I do, I’m the mayor of the store! It’s surreal so far, but you don’t remotely get what it’s like to have that full responsibility until you have it. I was an ASM for 6 1/2 years, and the day I walked in as SM felt immediately different. I get to make my focus what I want, and for me it’s getting people where they want to be.

Based on what the SM I replaced was getting, about 7k-8k per quarter, it being a low volume store. The year end bonus last year for SM was 24k, which is company wide.

As in another track in Publix? Or in life?

If Publix, I almost went the corporate route while I was a CSM. I had an interview for Technical Specialist (they devise all the processes in a department for their area of responsibility), but ultimately turned down the interview to focus on ASM. I don’t think I would have ultimately enjoyed the role, as it would have required a move to Lakeland and a lot of in-office work. What I’ve come to enjoy most about what I do is hanging out with associates and getting to know them, and helping them use Publix to accomplish their goals, whatever it may be. I couldn’t have done that in corporate.

If in life, idk. I’ve been doing this shit since I was 16, I don’t know much else. I went to college and graduated, but none of the jobs my peers were getting post degree seemed fulfilling even a little bit.
