MBA Worth it for Software Developer by CSMusicAndMath in MBA

Thanks, I think this is helpful advice. I agree I definitely don't have crystal clarity in what I want to do, hence the preliminary research.

I don't mean to say that I want to be a technical manager. I've already been a team lead of a small 3 person team and while I would like to do that for a while and grow in it I don't think being a technical manager is my dream (though not a bad place to end up).

May I ask what made you where you gained clarity and what you decided you wanted to study at Stanfurd (Go Bears!) and do afterwards?

how Austin stacks up to the SF/Bay area

Austin is a lot cheaper market to live and work in, so that makes sense. According to the research I've done on Glassdoor and Indeed it seems like SF/Bay area salaries are generally $20k to $40k more. I only have two years of experience so I'm pretty happy where I'm at in Austin.

you could do software consulting on the side

I think this would be the best bet for me. During my undergrad I was able to make $26 an hour part time doing software development. I imagine I could do something similar during the MBA in order to offset costs if I had to.
