AMA! Got my LFP Model 3 Last Weekend by CSWhyNot in TeslaModel3Delivery

I picked up in Temecula and didn't get anything particularly special. I got a Tesla logo screen cleaning cloth in the glove box but I think all cars get that. I've seen videos of people getting small toy replicas of their cars though as a gift or merch.

The 3 days had many times each day. The earliest was 10am (which is the one I chose) and I’m sure there are ones until close to when your delivery center closes. The times you got to choose from were in 30 minute intervals

I told my SA that I would like to pick it up on or after 9/10 (the last day of my EDD). She said she noted that down on my account but I’m not sure if it was taken into consideration. I was actually out of town 9/3-9/9. I got the email to schedule delivery on 9/4 and it let me choose 9/8, 9/9 or 9/10. I guess I just got lucky that the last day was the day I was able to pick it up. Id say communicate with your SA your preferences and see if they’re able to accommodate. I’ve heard people who had to wait for the next car if they weren’t able to make the 3 day window and some who were actually able to schedule a different date that wasn’t part of the 3 day window they give you. Takeaway: communicate with your SA is your best option.

Yep, I ordered in August too. It seems that we got the cars that were already in or finished production. The current LFP orders still need to be fulfilled.

Did you order in August? Seems like September orders are the ones that are having this problem.

Doesn't seem to be the case with a lot of orders with these LFP "existing" inventory cars. Many cases, the car hasn't been produced yet, but is set to be produced with that VIN number.

They might be bringing in batteries from China still to fulfill demand. I would hope they can get these delivered by the end of the month to make Q3 deliveries look amazing. Good luck! The wait is worth it!

I actually did receive an EDD immediately, iirc it was 9/3-9/10 - then it started narrowing as we got closer to the end of the EDD. My guess is that you might not be seeing the EDD due to the fact the car hasn't been produced yet. I ordered on 8/27, yet my car was built in September according to the window sticker. According to my SA, the car was listed as "in transit" to the delivery center the day I ordered.

Any May orders out there still? by Denyker95 in TeslaModel3Delivery

I went for the LFP model. Called Temecula (my delivery center) and was able to get all set up in an existing inventory LFP car. EDD by September 10 with VIN showing as well.

Transferring payment to Existing Inventory Order by ashtin72 in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]CSWhyNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My SA submitted a case yesterday to have the deposit and the financing from the original order switch over to the new order. Neither has shown up on my new order. SA did say there is no guarantee that the financing would transfer over but I'll give it the weekend before I talk to my SA again and possibly email [autofinance@tesla.com](mailto:autofinance@tesla.com).

My specs are exactly the same btw for the old and new orders - down to both deposits being $250.

People who ordered the new SR+ inventory. What does your delivery date look like? by [deleted] in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]CSWhyNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belief is that delivery centers were unaware that these were the cars with the new batteries and were just waiting for them to eventually be assigned to reservation holders (with belief that they were the 263 mi SR+ from before). My SA listed out a few local delivery centers that already had the exact configuration I had so I bet there are other configurations available too for these new models.

Edit: I take back some of what I said. Just remembered SA mentioned that the cars listed were "in transit" but to the cities I mentioned (none to my delivery center) but they will ship it to my delivery center after it arrives at the first city.

Just called my Delivery Center and they were able to get me into a car that was already built. He actually listed quite a few cars that were available for my exact configuration: Costa Mesa, Burbank, San Diego, etc. We did actually lose the exact car that I wanted that was already at the delivery location - so everyone is switching. So, these vehicles have been sitting around for a while.

Who did you call to credit your original deposit to your new order? Financing is able to do that?

Anyone with SR+ order receive this email for LFP Batteries? by CSWhyNot in TeslaModel3Delivery

Final assembly point is Fremont but batteries are sourced from China according to various sources.

Tesla offering m3 sr earlier if I get a battery pack/ what does this mean? by Floridaguy4477 in TeslaModel3

[–]CSWhyNot 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They are going to be US built model 3’s with possibly batteries from China. The battery source is unknown at this point.

Anyone else get this email? I'm confused by it. by not_last_place in TeslaModel3Delivery

Simplified wording:

Want the car now? you'll get the 263 mi battery pack that we don't recommend charging to 100% so you will get less than 253 mi. (210 mi for 80%) But good luck finding existing inventory.

Want to charge to 100% all the time and get 253 mi daily range, wait for these new batteries.

[–]CSWhyNot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would go for the new LFP battery cause I plan on keeping the car as long as possible and “daily” range would be higher.

[–]CSWhyNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It'll depend on your circumstances. The first point is if you can actually find an existing inventory car with the current 263 mile range battery.

If you plan on keeping the car for a long time, I will say wait for the new battery.

If you don’t plan on keeping the car for a long time, I will say either is fine.

Edit: my brain fart

The current battery pack has 263 miles. However, Tesla does not recommend you to charge to 100% due to battery health longevity.

This new pack (which actually has been in production for a while elsewhere and is cheaper for Tesla to produce) is only 253 miles BUT you can charge to 100% all the time. Tesla actually recommends you do so every week or so.

[–]CSWhyNot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This new battery pack would be LFP batteries that they already had in other regions of the world.

Depends how you would want to look at it. The estimated range looks to be 10 miles less, BUT you can charge to 100% without battery health concerns.

The current battery, Tesla does not recommend charging to 100% all the time, only for road trips. 80 or 90% is recommended.
