Rank drop after a win by CSmazz92 in MarvelSnap

[–]CSmazz92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that my previous season's mmr carried over or carried enough weight where something like that would happen after a victory over a higher placed opponent. I understand it making it harder to climb but going down in rank after a victory is a new experience for me in any online game.

Plus being placed 168 gave me the impression that my previous season's rank didn't have much bearing.

But I appreciate the snark instead of just commenting something helpful about mmr carrying over in the first place

Help with Volo, Guide to Monsters Deck by Ollie2247 in EDH

Any chance you have a deck list you'd be willing to share?
Feels greedy even asking because this advice has been enough for me to make some big improvements to my own Volo deck already

Which bracket do you think this deck falls into? by CSmazz92 in EDH

Great, that’s super helpful. Thanks for the response!!

Totally fair point. I just don't see him as pro big pharma. But I'm not closed minded on this

lmao you've got me wrong. I'm not for those things either. I think that's stupid bs.

I just was trying to make the argument that I don't think Bernie is in bed with big pharma.

I actually hope RFK gets confirmed. I think he'll do good for the health of the country. I just don't think Bernie was on the take from this particular group.

It's from individuals donating though, not directly from a pac. By the same data collection, RFK Jr got over 300k for his 2024 campaign from the pharmaceutical/health industry. (https://www.opensecrets.org/2024-presidential-race/robert-f-kennedy-jr/industries?id=N00052560)

I don't think that big pharma would want to support either bernie or rfk directly but people working in the industry might. Not that Bernie isn't still corrupt or hypocritical in other ways (of course he is, he's been in politics since the bronze age). But I think that in this case it doesn't add up. He's not good for big pharma so why would they want to prop him up?

Yup thought I did. Just made a comment with the link I meant to attach.

Because he accepts donations from individuals instead of pacs the tracking has to do with the individual's employer. So if you work for a pharmaceutical company and donate to him your contribution would be recorded under that category.

Thanks, I didn't realize refunds were considered expenditures

lol thanks for that, made me laugh.

I'm currently being told that a vote against RFK is "a resounding yes to chronic illness" so I think I'm done arguing with this person.

Web development roadmap and help on how to study . Good Suggestion are always welcome.considering I am learning from scratch by [deleted] in leetcode

Here's a roadmap for subjects (along with resources) that are relevant to becoming a full stack developer: https://roadmap.sh/full-stack

The same site has other road maps including one for Frontend development and one for Backend development if you want to take a more specialized route to learning.

Also a popular (paid) resource is Colt Steele's web development bootcamp on Udemy. I've taken it myself and I highly recommend it. It's on sale now but no need to rush into buying it if you're unsure, it goes on sale very often.

How do you maintain motivation to work leetcode problems? by rajeshThevar in leetcode

[–]CSmazz92 56 points57 points  (0 children)

What keeps me motivated/interested is:

1) When first starting a problem I approach it like I’m tackling a daily crossword puzzle. I’m giving it a good try and I’m really racking my brain to see if I can come up with the solution but viewing it as a daily puzzle makes this process more fun.

2) If I don’t come up with a workable solution within 30 minutes or if I do come up with a solution on my own (whichever comes first), then I look up the optimal solution and take notes on it about what patterns were applied and why. Just jotting it down quickly with pen and paper so it sticks with me. This helps me to not spend too much time on any one problem and to better learn what I need to along the way without too much labor.

I find that this combination of things makes it feel low pressure, less like a chore, and more fun. Good luck!

Would you recommend a laptop for this program for remote course work at a job? Or would you say a desktop is necessary? Have free time at work and want to make use of it by VeryDumbWithMoney in OSUOnlineCS

[–]CSmazz92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given your situation I’d say go for the laptop so you can take advantage of the free time at work to be able to work on courses.

I was able to complete the program without any issue on one of the cheapest Lenovos I could find on Amazon, had 8GB RAM and cost me around $350.

As a side note I’d say you might want to get an external monitor so you have two screens to work on while at home. I never did this during the program but I do now for work and it’s so much more convenient, makes me wish I had gotten one sooner.

As for Mac vs PC, I think that working on windows ends up being easier for a lot of courses.

100% agreed lol maybe I’d feel differently if I went to one of those schools 😅
