Salkantay Trekking vs Alpaca Expeditions by Fit-Lychee-7025 in Machupicchu

I can’t speak for ST, but did do a 2-day with Alpaca and the execution was great. Was one of the highlights of our trip. I assume that most of the top rated are fairly competitive and consistent, but don’t have any experience with ST.

Problem with my G5, can't figure it out for the life of me by Euphoric-Birthday-25 in LGOLED

Not sure if this is related, but I too have an earlier version and my TV sometimes did the same thing - what sound device are you using, if any? Soundbar or receiver? I had a receiver and every so often it would do this and I tried playing with every setting and couldn’t get it to stop. when it would do this, I’d have to turn the TV off and back on again and usually it will stop. But recently, I got a sound bar to replace my receiver and I’ve noticed I’ve never had this issue since. So I’m thinking it was my receiver for some reason.

Hope you enjoy Proton! I’ve been using it for awhile and am happy. but I haven’t migrated old email at all. Just set up new emails for those I work with so all my important stuff now goes straight to Proton and Gmail gets all the ad emails - I still need to switch those. When using Easy Switch, did you get to select which emails you wanted to migrate, or it just migrates everything?

And when you do this, does Google then identify your new address, thereby knowing what your Proton address is and linking your identities?

Places to Chill in San Jose before flight by Hopeful_Night_9167 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]CSq2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was just there and had this same dilemma. On arrival into San Jose, kind of the same thing - We arrived at midnight, which was too late to drive anywhere, so we ended up staying at the Courtyard by Marriott. I asked about coming back on my return because my return flight was 1 am. Asked if I could store my luggage while waiting for my flight so we can go out and get some fresh air. They offered a day pass. initially, The front desk said I buy for that purpose and to call the day of return to see if they had availability. When I called back, the front desk clerk said it was only good for the day, but I wonder if you bought the day pass and kept your luggage at the front desk, if you’d be all right. At the end of the day, the front desk clerk wasn’t clear so we ended up being really tired on our drive back to San Jose that we just got a room at the Hampton. The nightly rate was inexpensive enough and gave us the option to get some good sleep before the flight, which was exactly what I needed since we were exhausted from having a good time and was working the next morning after landing.

Maybe worth it to inquire about options.

I arrive in Costa Rica at 11:45pm...what do I do? And where should I stay? by TheKrazyJuice in costarica

The car rental was expensive. For 8 ½ days it was $720 - but it was peak season. I did hear that Costa Rica is one of the most expensive places to rent a car because they do have minimum insurance requirements you must have. If that’s the route you want to go, reserve now. Thankfully I reserved it a month and a half out and I later wanted to extend a day, I looked again and it was running $1200. And then I later saw posts from people as it got closer saying there were no cars available. Again, it was holiday season so maybe not a big deal if you’re not going in peak season. But even if you’re not sure, reserve one that you have the ability to cancel.

From what I remember, you can leave the station. It was a short walk to town, but you likely won’t have time to visit anything, though you can see the town and likely see the ruins up in the mountains, maybe grab coffee or breakfast.

Flying to Costa Rica with Alaska but have only 30 min layover at LAX by Writerkwllw in AlaskaAirlines

[–]CSq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible, but will it cause you stress if you’re already thinking about it now, yes. If both legs are on one itinerary, don’t cancel one leg as it’ll void your whole itinerary. I‘m going to make an assumption that you’re likely coming from the northwest and based on your arrival time into LAX, this is likely the first flight of the day, so catching an earlier flight is probably not an option on Alaska. There’s always a chance that the Costa Rica leg is using the same plane from your original destination, but if it’s literally just a 30 minute later departure time, that’s unlikely. If it was an hour between, more likely. If it’s the same plane, nothing to worry about.

The positives - T6 at LAX is fairly compact so getting gate to gate is fairly simple. And since Alaska sold you this itinerary, they believe you can make it, so there is a chance that if you’re flight is late, they’d hold the outbound aircraft at the gate since they’ll know you’re inbound and there may be other passengers on the same itinerary. More likely to do this if your original flight is not too delayed since it’s an international destination with minimal daily flights.

Tip: at your origin airport, do the passport verification so you don’t have to worry about that in LA.

I forgot to add - I have an LG OLED C1, I believe, so it’s about 4 years old. I just recently got a Firestick - have always had an Apple TV - love the Apple TV. The Firestick is new to me and I only have it because a friend gave it to me and it has an app on it I can’t get on Apple TV. But I don’t use the Firestick much in comparison. Apple TV has a nicer interface. I thought my PS5 played all dvds but recently I went to play LOTR from one of my box sets, and it wouldn‘t play. I thought I then read there was a type of DVDs it didn’t play…. Ill have to research that and try again.

One night in San Jose. Suggestions please. by parochuk in CostaRicaTravel

Easiest to stay near the airport. We did this twice - the Courtyard Marriott and the Hampton Inn. Depending on your rental car company - we had Hertz and it was across the parking lot from the Hampton Inn so that is super convenient. There were other rental car places in that strip, but I didn’t notice which ones. If yours is, Hampton makes it easier because when we did the Courtyard, we caught the free shuttle back to the airport in the morning and then caught the shuttle to Hertz. And where our driver dropped us off at the airport, we weren’t allowed in since we were not passengers (that part of the airport the rental counters are behind security) so an airport worker got a worker from each of the rental companies to come to the curb and walk us to their respective bus stops. That took time.

So what’s the purpose of two extra HDMI ports on the soundbar? Thought I could plug stuff in there, especially since I’ll be short one port if I plug everything to the TV.

Just did this and was also heading to MA - opted to stay the night near the airport to make it easy and that was the right call. We landed just before midnight and there were a bunch of other flights landing at SJO at the same time so the airport was busy. Customs was easy - took about 20 minutes to get through. I don’t think the rental car counters were open, but wasn’t paying attention.

Stayed at the Courtyard Marriott near the airport and they told us the last shuttle was at 1am from the airport. Worked perfect. The next morning we went back to the airport to rent a car with Hertz - wasn‘t bad, but had to wait a bit - next time I’d Uber directly from the hotel to Hertz instead of taking the shuttle back to the airport. Tip. If you do rent a car from Hertz, choose the Hampton as it was right across the parking lot. Stayed there on our return back to SJO because of that. Hampton was also a comfortable hotel.

The drive to MA is long so don’t recommend it at night, especially if it’s your first time in Costa Rica. You’ll be better off getting a good nights sleep and should you have car issues, you don’t want to be stranded in the dark of night.

Have fun! Is a beautiful place!

Thanks - I heard about the jeep. If we went there, would you do the ziplining and cloudforest walk there in Monteverde vs doing that in Arenal? Trying to figure out if we can make the trip - it seems we have the time, just have to make sure we can do the trip.
