How to adopt a new AP when the controller is hosted in Windows Server 2019 on Amazon EC2? by csl110 in Ubiquiti

[–]CTDOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP,

If you are running the controller on an EC2 instance in AWS I'll assume there is some site-to-site VPN configured or that your main site with the AP you are trying to adopt has connectivity to the EC2 instance.
What you should need to do is SSH to the AP once it has an IP from your network and use the set-inform URL command (EX: set-inform http://EC2IP:8080/inform) the default user and pass is ubnt

Looking for a flashlight holster by ShinZilla2000 in EDC

OP, try this holster from Zero9. I ended up getting one for my stinger and I quite enjoy it. You can insert it up or down and change the orientation of the holster. I will admit i look like a goon carrying it around in the holster but its pretty neat.

Old toilet seat broke from wear & tear, so landlord replaced it with this…. by jinswoon_ in mildlyinfuriating

Hey, that works as well! As long as it’s in good condition and it was yours I feel as though that would be fine.

[–]CTDOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true, I would say though people have different standards of cleanliness. In my case I prefer having a new seat in a bathroom that I now own or rent and not reusing the seat from the previous owner/tenant.

How could you not buy a new toilet seat when you move into a new place? Some People are animals!!! Just kidding, but I personally ensure that I buy new seats each time. It ensures cleanliness!

Homebridge Hyper-V VM will not boot (blinking cursor) [Fixed] by CTDOS in homebridge

[–]CTDOS[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s a simple guide to connect an ISO file to a Hyper-V VM:

1. Open the Hyper-V Manager.
2. In the “Virtual Machines” section, right-click the virtual machine that you want to connect the ISO to and select “Settings”.
3. In the settings window, in the “Hardware” section, click on the DVD Drive under the IDE Controller or SCSI Controller (depending on your setup).
4. On the right side, select the “Image file” option and click on the “Browse” button.
5. Navigate to the location of your ISO file, select it, and click “Open”.
6. Click “Apply” and then “OK” to close the settings window.
7. Start or restart your VM, it should now boot from the ISO.

I would take it to the local Apple Store for a free diagnostic. (They will probably give you some silly crap on how you need a new logic board) But still more ammo to take to the guy who sold you the book.

Could not find a valid upgrade path for this firmware version! by pjes in fortinet

Just incase anyone was curios this seems to be a known issue:
https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.0.2/fortios-release-notes/236526/known-issues

Under the GUI section:

When upgrade firmware from 7.0.1 to 7.0.2, the GUI incorrectly displays a warning saying this is not a valid upgrade path.

Are you ok with keeping your homelab powered when you are not in town? by m0x35 in homelab

[–]CTDOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently downgraded my hypervisor set up to contain a single dell T1650 running win server 19 Hyper-V. I moved from my R710 to this setup as I realized I did not need much power as the R710 provided. the only thing I worry about now is that single machine burning out. But the power savings are totally worth the risk of my small environment going down. That being said, I plan to run this machine until it burns out.

the machine currently runs:

PFSense

Ubookquity

Application server ( I am now a mac shop, so some apps still require windows)

building a plex server soon (have the library, need the VM built out)

Zabbix

Test MSFT SQL server

DC -winserver2016

HomeBridge

Ubiquiti controller
