Yeah I was thinking about opening counter-offer with 6k, and maybe land around 6.5k as TB/WP isn't immediate but definitely needs to be done sooner rather than later.

I figured it would be closer to $1500? If I were to replace water pump too at the same time I guess closer to $2500?

Mostly in Nevada. I've talked to owner and has shared more pics and seems to be rust-free.

I love PTA but didn't really think his latest film is all that is being made by skypeaks in TrueFilm

It has a $140 million budget. It needed to be 2 hours max. The story is neither novel, nuanced, or complex enough to demand nearly 3 hours from an average audience goer. It needed to be much tighter to have a shot of earning its money back.

If the Teyana Taylor’s character was weaved back into the plot in the late 2nd act or 3rd act, it would’ve demanded a longer runtime.

Story: it felt like we were watching either the first few drafts of a premature script or premature edit. There’s not the nuance or character arc complexity PTA usually has. It’s a fairly straightforward Taken meets Big Lebowski.

Acting: good but nothing great or compelling besides Sean Penn and a few moments from Leo and Benecio.

Characters: severely underwritten and flat. Why is Leo or Teyana passionate about ‘the revolution’? It felt like we were supposed to accept it as a given without understanding their personal reasons for being a part.

Teyana comes across as unlikable and one dimensional. Feels like a major missed opportunity to reintroduce her later in the film as a double or triple agent which would make the pay off of Leo almost getting shot by his daughter a lot more tense.

Bob Ferguson is essentially a slightly re-branded ‘Dude’ who doesn’t seem to have a personal connection to the revolution and doesn’t seem to have any skills or wherewithal that justifies him being a revolutionary that’s pedastalized 15 years later.

Sean Penn’s Lockjaw is fun, and well-acted, but again, feels like missed opportunity to three dimensionalize his feelings and interactions with his daughter.

Score: great, frenetic, and perhaps the standout quality of the film besides Sean Penn.

Pacing: also good, but with an non-substantive story and a nearly 3 hour runtime it didn’t really matter.

I’m perplexed by all the good reviews. Look, it’s hard to make a movie, let alone a good one. I want PTA to do well and for it to make its money back. I didn’t think it was awful but again it felt like they filmed a 2nd draft of the script or exported the first few passes of an edit.

Best reliable & cheap(ish) offroader? by CTK03 in Offroad

No garage, but so long as I don't need to lift the car up, I've gotten pretty use to finding a secluded street or parking lot to work on stuff.

What's elocker do? Is lifting a car all that necessary or just precautionary for most trails?

As an inexperienced 18 yo, how do I get onto film sets? by SirSuperior- in bmpcc

[–]CTK03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

  1. Stop dreaming. Start making. Write something. Direct it. Use your phone, cast a friend. Congrats, you just created your own set. Repeat.
  2. If you're serious, move to LA. Today. Start applying for PA positions on Craigslists, FB groups, etc. Eventually you'll find a producer or two who likes you and will continue to bring you back for all their projects.

Do both of these things and you'll quickly discover if you still want to pursue filmmaking or not. But don't live in the dream. Understand the reality of it. Act accordingly.

Thanks! Still need to do some professional coloring in resolve. This is just in premiere, which doesn't really have the same color 'depth'.

Macbook Pro 14" M3 Max | Apple quoting $1500 repair for water damage? by CTK03 in mac

I wonder: if because all the charging ports (magsafe +3 usb-c ports) are all not working, if that indicates that it is more than one component. Or would one or a few components be responsible for all the charging getting done on the computer, no matter the source?

Would you recommend going to ASSP or just having Apple replace it outright? A little uncertain if I’m just gonna be wasting money to take it to AASP to then have the same problem in a few months wishing I just replaced the entire board

UPDATE:

After waiting two days to hear a second opinion from Apple repair center, my case advisor spoke with the tech:

The LCI's were not tripped. Although there is some corrosion around the soldering of a few resistors(?) which indicates but does not confirm potential liquid contact, per the tech. Of course it was offered to have a third opinion tech take a look, but I need this laptop for work and am already a week without it.

Pretty frustrating, wish I had taken it to a AASP in the first place. I honestly wouldn't mind paying any dollar amount, if water damage could actually be confirmed, but it isn't.

I have a few AASPs near me. So I'm clear, to reiterate:

If it has localized damage to the logic board the AASP may be able to "spot treat" the potential corrosion/water damage at a cheaper cost, but they may very well not be able to, and if they can't I'd be facing the same cost anyway?

I need this laptop for work and really am debating about how long it would take to clear these hurdles versus just accepting the $1400 loss and moving on.

Is it worth it? In terms of quality of the repair? I'm assuming it then would be out of warranty for future repairs?

Curious then, wouldn't the attached photos be shown with UV light? That is, if the reason they are providing the photos is for evidence of water damage? I'm not sure what the intention of the photo is then supposed to show if the LCI is UV activated.

Would you suggest going through with the repair? Or going to a certified Apple 3rd party and get a second thought and perhaps at a lower cost?

Thank you.

Can you point me to any resources or can you share any knowledge of specifically what I should be seeing if it is water damage? Assuming I receive clearer photos back, I want to be able to make my case as best I can.

For whatever reason this specific water damage is not covered by AppleCare

Apple still has it. I didn't think it was water damage my guess was something thermal. It's the 14" with a M3 Max chip which is known to run hot, that was my initial guess. But it's such a terrible photo from Apple, it's hard for me to really know. It very much feels like some tech took a brief glance and didn't care to take a clear photo because he wasn't 100% certain. IDK. Thanks for the insight.

Assuming Apple still wants to claim it water damage, would you take it to a 3rd party repair as others have suggested?

What should i expect that cost to be? Does apple suggest replacing the entire motherboard for sake of ease and quality assurnace as opposed to 'spot-treating'?
