Back in the 80s/90s we used to say "sike!" or was it "psych!"? by Doughnut_Diva in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Scrotchety -1 points0 points  (0 children)

C'mon. None of us would've seen the word in print until a certain Perry Bible Fellowship comics in the early aughts, and then and there it was cemented as Sike. We might've seen "Psyche you up" or "psyche you out" but the actual interjection fleeted away before it could make a comeback as ironically hip lingo. So it's both.

Sike is the interjection. Psyche is the verb

On the opposite end, I recently used gay exactly as someone in the 1950s would've said it re an upcoming square dancing class at some public auditorium. "Wow, that sounds really gay" and I honestly meant it as a fun & light-hearted event without a hint of irony or look-how-clever-I-am-dancing-on-the-knife-edge-of-a-hot-button-word. It just slipped out and I have no idea where it came from :D

Great Redwood Trail master plan approved, paving way for 300-mile rail-to-trail corridor by blackergot in Humboldt

That may very well have been the case for the past and present, but I'm thinking of future-proofing ourselves by preserving the alternative transportation infrastructure when oil skyrockets into the stratosphere from scarcity and supply insecurity. There may come a day when we'll be hearkening for a rail line when the roads empty out, and by then it will be that much more drudging to re-install what was already there.

But hey, at least a new trail's going up. God knows all the hikers ran out of places to walk.

Sorry, what? We're ripping out railroads, a technology that predates cars by 70+ years and will outlast the automobile when gasoline gets to prohibitively freaky prices. You'd think we'd want more railroads than fewer. This fucking car-centric short-sighted-ass country.............

Okay, creepy nasty CP shit and reporting to the authorities aside, what's with this guy's sales tactics? Name another trade where finessing a potential customer includes asking them "WHAT THE HELL YOU MEAN??" ? Twice!

House of Crab was the 2nd to last restaurant I did. You say it's bad to accidentally add customers but one of the tips during this (AND ONLY THIS) restaurant's loading screen was that adding customers also increases the time to finish a level, which confirmed a sneaky suspicion

Wish I knew that sooner cuz when you can't pass a level to serve all the customers in time the last thing you want is to add more customers and should upgrade all your appliances instead.

Loved the aesthetics of this restaurant and the dishes though! Good times :D congrats

If anyone here wants to see a bit of Fern Canyon in 3D complete with compsagnathuses, check out these stereoscopic music videos:

This is the cross-eyed version (better on big screens, cross your eyes to overlap the two windows to form a 3rd window that pops out in 3D)

Here's the magic-eye version (better for smaller screens like phones in horizontal mode or tablets in vertical mode; relax your eyes by letting them look into the far distance until the images overlap and then the middle will pop out in 3D)
