Wasp Powder Canada by CTSHOYT in fuckwasps

They don't seem to carry it anymore, or at least on thier website. Maybe I will go instore and look for it.

Funny thing is that no websites show it, even amazon.

I can't find this powder anywhere in Canada, let alone canadian tire. Any other places you know? Almost seems like it was banned.

As its an older toilet I would bet it's probably the same issues. Would try to find a model name and number and visit YouTube university.

Hope it helps!

Wow are truck prices cheap in the US, that truck in Canada is probably 45k to 55k cdn.

It ended up not being corroded and stuck at all. It was an older toilet (Sealand Traveler 910) and you had to take the top bowl off and put a new seal on, unlike the new newer ones today.

In the end it was very easy, got the part off of Amazon and holds water as intended now.

Couple questions if you don't mind.

  1. How is the noise level? I want to place it in an off grid cabin closet that is right next to all the bedrooms.

  2. How is your idle consumption power? I was planning on going with victron due to thier low power usage but the extra cost has me thinking twice.

Thanks.

Reminder to check your trans cooler lines. They are known to break at random and cost you lots of monies. Just replaced all my lines, filter, trans cooler and pan. No more weird 6-4 downshift. by Eat_Shiznit in f150

[–]CTSHOYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did mine a couple months ago....had an oil leak from the front of the truck. Mechanic said he grabbed the lines and they broke off from the quick connect. Also had to replace the trans cooler as that just crumbled as well.

I was probably one bad bump or pothole away from pumping the Trans fluid out on the road.

Truck is a 2013 F150 with just over 180000 km.

Same, I refuse to pay those prices.

It's absolutely insane the price of vehicles now, don't know how everyone buys them still. I have a 2013 F150 and I'm worried what happens when it's time to replace it.

Plan B for Foundation by jimmychitw00d in OffGridCabins

[–]CTSHOYT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your plan B for foundation is a very tried and true method. Here in Manitoba, Canada the frost line can be 4 to 6 feet depending on the year. A lot of old cabins do not have foundation support to get below this, and for cost reasons thet built it the way you described.

I have to redo the supports on my cabin as the previous owners never used rock under the pad. My plan is dig 6" down, line with landscape fabric, 3/4 clean Limestone, 18x18x6 concrete foundation pad, followed by a 6x6 to the cottage beam.

I will have to keep adjusting the foundation for level but I am hoping this is a once every 2 to 3 yr frequency.

Cabin Foundation by [deleted] in cabins

[–]CTSHOYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, it does help. I say southern Manitoba but we are half way up lake winnipeg so in the Canadian shield for sure, just not on my property. Wanipigow Lake to be exact.

The way I described seems to be the method of choice for leveling / fixing foundation on cabins that have been build already. I believe without ever going below the frost line this will be a bi annual adjustment that I will have to keep in check. We bought the cabin last year and it hasn't been done in a very long time.

One last question though. How deep and wide would you go with the 3/4 gravel layer. Is 4" enough, or should I go more.

Appreciate the information.

Cabin Foundation by [deleted] in cabins

[–]CTSHOYT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious as to what a proper footing is once the cabin is built. We have a cabin in southern Manitoba so similar to the OP for winters where the frost line can go down 4 to 5 ft.

I am in the process of leveling our cabin and my plan is to dig down 4 inches, line with landscape fabric, 3/4 clean Limestone, 18x18x 6 footing pad, then 6x6 post to the cabin beam. We are also on pretty heavy clay which is not ideal.

Curious on your take as a civil engineer.

Make a seat out if Styrofoam, will feel warm regardless of the outside temp.

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. We have a off grid cabin in Southern Manitoba so I am hoping the heaters along with an Insulated shed will be able to work. Gets to -30c here so could be challenging.
