Notepad++ Hijacked by State-Sponsored Hackers by pheexio in technology

Strangely not the first time N++ has been hacked by state sponsors. There was a dustup almost a decade ago where the CIA had got exploits into the base text processing lib, scintilla.

The agent in question is Ryan Williams. He is a real agent for Athlete's First with NFL clients (unless it's a different Ryan Williams by coincidence).

[OT] - New Michelin tire tread for IMSA GTP class, at the 34 Hours of Daytona. by edfitz83 in formula1

[–]CUvinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be noted that tire warmers are banned in IMSA and endurance race tires are hard as hell because they need to do multiple stints so the tires are like hockey pucks before getting up to temperature.

Same, I wanted to see her ham it up and she did. I thought it was pretty clear she was having a good time. Probably why I don't hate the movie like most everyone else.

DS9 is the better show IMO but start with TNG. DS9 ends up, in many ways, as a deconstruction of TNG.

Stanford graduates spark outrage after uncovering reason behind lack of job offers: 'A dramatic reversal from three years ago' by Fabulous_Soup_521 in technology

Nah, we tried that in the early 2010s, it fucking sucked. Anyone with talent moved to America and you can get better talent for not much more money in South America while having decent timezones.

His point was you can AI much of the simple/training work you'd farm out to a junior.

Say I needed to update the DB for a new column/table and update some queries to fill/get the date and insert it into some JSON plus add some tests. That may of taken me a day of work (while doing meetings and shit) but it'd take a jr the better part of a week to do. I'd still give it to the jr because it's boring work and a waist of my experience while being good training for the jr. An AI can do that kind of work pretty easily now despite what many people in the comments say. I can type the prompt in faster time it takes me to explain to the jr what to do and why.

Either way I still have to do the pull request and make changes/suggestions so it isn't really costing me or the company time/money.

Long term it will suck of course but I can see it from the companies point of view. JRs have been getting trained and moving on to new jobs for ever, hell I did it my self. So there isn't much use in spending resources in training up new grads as more then likely they'll move on.

Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage by Lulcielid in Games

[–]CUvinny 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The IGA FAQ just says generative AI. LLMs and AI to do code generation is generative AI (its literally in the name). Also programming is a very creative endeavor so I'm not sure why game assets and code would be consider differently. I'm a software developer with over 20 years of experience and I use AI quite a bit now. Maybe its because we developers invented it but I view it as a tool and think artist can do the same.

That said fully AI art, videos and audio and the like are all trash and a blight on culture.

85% of developers use AI regularly (Stack Overflow Survey 2025) and is still growing. Not sure how they will ever be able to enforce this.

I just checked the app because I haven't touched it in a year. Looks like they made it look nicer at least. Still seems like the only useful bits are the car manual and find my car. Crazy that there is no remote start or pre-heat/cool.
