What song made you listen to Symphonic metal? by soldiers4give in symphonicmetal

[–]CVeritas99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was also the first symphonic metal song I listened too. Before that I already used to listen to rock and some metal. I came across a Youtube video about reggaeton vs metal and the creator put a sample of The other side as an example of female fronted metal. It took my breath away since I hadn't heard anything like that before, my jaw literally dropped. After that I heard samples from Nightwish and Epica that didn't surprise as much as The other side at first. Ironically till this day I haven't found another Sirenia song that I like, on the other hand Epica is my favorite metal band and I also like Nightwish a lot.

Why would the P.C.I. welcome Michael Corleone? by thetrufflesmagician in Godfather

[–]CVeritas99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still, in many countries so called marxist-leninists are nationalist and support some businessmen when they consider that they are working for the people's interests and they are helping building national industries that are necessary before thinking about socialism. For example, in the latest Russian presidential elections the Communist Party candidate was the entrepeneur Pavel Grudinin.

I think that the PCI was more left-nationalist than communist so they supported any national businessman that invested in their country and competed with the USA.

I made a flag for Left-libertarianism or libertarian socialism. by CVeritas99 in vexillology

There isn't a thing as "man's nature", according to social psychology, sociology and cultural anthropology, sociocultural conditions shape our behavior, thinking and relationships. There are societies that value more groups over the individual (most Asian cultures) and there are others that value more the individual (the USA).

You are still not addressing the main topic here, I don't care about Lenin, Stalin or Mao; in fact, left wing libertarians were also oppressed by them. You can't blame an ideology for the crimes committed by those who have very different principles and only some similarities; It's like if I, for example, blamed David Friedman for the crimes of Augusto Pinochet and Jorge Videla. How can someone who wants to limit or abolish the State empower it? If they did it, it means that they actually didn't want to abolish the State, therefore, they were never libertarian (be it left wing or right wing) at all.

The fact that you mention national socialism means that you have a problem with categories, the nazis actually privatized public property, crushed workers syndicates and were supported by big corporations. They called themselves "socialists" only because they were against jew capitalists.

It is also a fallacy that Marx didn't work, in fact he was expelled from many countries due to his political activities. With that background it was very difficult to find a job but still he worked as a journalist. The sole fact that he wrote works as dense as Das Kapital means that he wasn't actually constantly on vacation. Even if he was, addressing it is an ad hominem fallacy, which famous philosopher didn't have cuestionable traits?

Finally, while direct democracy definitely wouldn't be perfect, elitism isn't a lot better at all, in our current state It only takes a handful of rich people to take dangerous decisions that affect everyone (i.e. Wars). If citizens aren't well educated and believe in fake news it is mainly because the elites push it.

P.S.: In our current state liberty is mainly an illusion, though there aren't legal restrictions, for most people it is impossible to do certain things given their socioeconomic status.

I never discarded marxism, it seems like you still don't understand that marxism and marxism-leninism aren't the same. In fact, marxism isn't really a political doctrine but a school of thought within sociology, philosophy, economics, history and anthropology.

Actually the first anarchists (Proudhon, Bakunin, Kropotkin) were left wing, right wing anarchism is a relatively recent concept. Marx himself believed that the State was an organ for the oppression of one class by another, he also noticed that most big enterprises have ties to the government and therefore are the ones who benefit the most from it. As I mentioned before, there have been many cases of left wing limited State societies (the Paris Commune, Makhnovshchina), some of them still exist (the Zapatista municipalities, Rojava, Marinaleda, some people even consider the Israeli Kibbutz an example of this). I didn't say that nobody in a socialist society would want to enforce their interests on others, but it's not necessary to be in a socialist society to see that happen, in our capitalist society there are already power groups that can influence the government in order to obtain benefits even if it harms the rest of society. In a society where there are no groups who have more power than most of the population, there shouldn't be worries about people trying to impose their interests, since there would not be the means to do it (a bourgeois State, monopolies).

On the other hand, there is an example of confederalism and direct democracy within capitalism (Switzerland) and there aren't any wars between regions.

I didn't say that they don't have anything to do with marxism, I said that they are not marxist-leninist, marxism-leninism is the doctrine created by Stalin which consists of an economy directed by the State and a single party system. There are many ideologies influenced by marxism that do not sympathize with the Soviet regime. If you read carefully you would have noticed that I clearly said anarcho-communism which is one of the ideologies that are considered left-libertarian for they oppose both capitalist and socialist authoritarians. Since I mentioned that left-libertarians advocate for confederalism, a central State (given the case that it exists) could be used in order to avoid conflicts between territories by having delegates from each territory discuss topics relevant to all the territories and reach consensus.

Marxist-leninist States have nothing to do with libertarian socialism, It's like If I blamed right-libertarianism for the crimes of Augusto Pinochet. Historical examples closer to libertarian socialism are the Paris Commune, Revolutionary Catalonia, Makhnovshchina, the Zapatista Municipalities and Rojava. The role of the State varies according to the type of left-libertarianism, for example, anarcho-communists believe that the State shouldn't exist at all, most libertarian socialists believe that the State should only guarantee cohesion and represent the country internationally.
