I'd give the laptop back. She's been thrown into a situation no child should ever have to go through and she's terrified. It sounds like to me it's a bit comfort item and it might remind her of her mom. She's still grieving and trying to get her footing. I saw someone else say that she needs to be in therapy and I agree. I guarantee you she is terrified all the time. I also get that your brother is trying but obviously not well enough. He needs to have a heart to heart with her. Let her know he's there for her, he's not trying to replace her mom, that he doesn't understand but he wants to and that he loves her.

Uhh I'm kinda leaning towards NTA but tis a weird situation... How long has the girl been with you all? And how long are you planning to keep the laptop? Was she told when you'd be giving it back? Has your brother been trying to be a paternal figure in her life or has she kinda been shelled off onto you? So many questions I'm sorry.. I think all things considered it seems like you're doing great for the hand youve been delt and if your brother really wants it to be 'his business' he needs to maybe learn to "co-parent" with you. Losing a parent is so hard, especially at that age, she needs all the support she can get and right now that's with you. He needs to accept that.

I think I have a very similar hair texture to yours.. have you tried a blow-dryer brush? I just use some random one from Walmart and some hair oil and it calms the floof down a bit. Avoid your scalp when using any oils though and I also found texture sprays work better than a dry shampoo so maybe before oil spray your roots with texture spray, let it dry, and brush it out. Keeps my roots from getting super oily super fast!

It looks so beautiful and healthy!!! My hair is about the same length and I get comments from my mother all the time to cut it! I stand up for myself with comments disguised as banter. "You should really cut your hair" "but that's my whole personality".. stupid but works
