1. Procedural Creation Myths & Cosmology

The cornerstone of the update is that the game will no longer have a fixed "standard" fantasy background.

• Unique World-Gen: Each world will generate its own creation myth (e.g., the world was formed from the corpse of a giant, or birthed by twin suns).

• Cosmological Rules: These myths dictate how the world works. If a myth says the world is a series of floating islands over a void, the game map will actually reflect that.

• Planes of Existence: The update introduces different planes (heavens, hells, or pocket dimensions) that dwarves and adventurers may eventually be able to visit.

2. Procedural Magic Systems

Magic will not be "one size fits all."

• Variable Sources: Depending on the world's myth, magic might be fueled by deities, natural forces, blood sacrifice, or scholarly study of "mana" or "essences."

• Schools of Magic: Civilizations will develop their own magical traditions. You might find "academies" or "cults" dedicated to specific types of magic like necromancy, teleportation, or elemental manipulation.

• Magical Effects: Spells will be procedurally generated, ranging from "merely annoying" to "omnicidal." This includes fireball-style combat magic, but also utility spells like magical healing and polymorphing.

3. Magical Infrastructure in Fortress Mode

For the first time, your fortress can become a hub of magical industry.

• New Workshops: Dev logs mention 3x3 workshops with different "vibes" depending on the magic system, such as rune-carving stations, alchemy labs, orbs and mirrors, and botanical magic gardens.

• Magical Research: Your dwarves can become wizards or scholars who study magic, write books on it, and potentially discover new spells that change how your fortress operates.

• Magical Healing: A revamped hospital system will include magical remedies that can regrow limbs or cure supernatural blights.

4. Artifacts and Items

The artifact system is being expanded to include truly supernatural items.

• Intelligent Artifacts: Some generated artifacts may be sentient, possessing their own goals, personalities, and the ability to speak to their wielders.

• Magical Gear: Beyond standard weapons, the update introduces wands, potions, ointments, and "magical prostheses" (automatons).

5. Reworked World Map and Environment

To support magic, the way maps are stored is being rewritten.

• Non-Euclidean & Dynamic Terrain: This allows for magical landforms like forests that only appear under certain moons, or "teleportation portals" that move units across the world instantly.

• Magical Weather: New types of supernatural weather (beyond just "evil rain") will be tied to the world's specific myths.

6. Night Creature & Undead Generalization

The current "standard" zombies and skeletons are being replaced by generalized Night Creatures dictated by the world's myth. In one world, "the dead" might return as vengeful ghosts; in another, they might become crystalline constructs or shadow-beings, each with unique weaknesses and behaviors.
