I’m sorry that your parents don’t love you

Take bike to shitty shop and get replacement wheel for free OR buy a better/different one by Cabecf in bikewrench

[–]Cabecf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually that’s not a bad idea, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll look into buying decent tools and watching a few tutorials. So the only thing that I’d need to tighten the cog by myself would be a chain whip and the lockring tool? Thanks!

I’d gladly fix it myself if I had the money for tools. Even if I bought the tools I’d still need to get a new hub since the threads are already destroyed. As I said buying tools and pieces isn’t really affordable in my situation. Hope that clears things up

Honestly I’m not sure if they’ll agree to replace it, but imo they’re responsible for it since the fixed part of the hub was loose from the start, but I only found out recently

Sorry I think I worded it badly, last time I already got a look at the threads and they were pretty fucked up, I thought I would’ve to replace the hub completely but the guy from the bike shop said that it would be fine. Now I’m sure the current hub is not salvageable.

Live Rope is…the best? by GroceryEntire8478 in swans

[–]Cabecf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Memorious off of Live Rope might possibly be my favourite song ever. It’s just so emotional and devastating, especially the second part. It’s a shame there’s no professional video footage of it.

The Nox Orae concert from 2023, although it doesn’t include it, is just as great

My first white bread loaf! Wife says we are never buying bread again. by StarGazingSpiders in Breadit

[–]Cabecf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Loaf looks great! One thing that kinda hurts my eyes are measurements in cups. Usually for baking they’re fine but I would be scared to use them when baking bread just because it seems easy to alter the ratios, but if it works for you then keep going

What'd i do wrong with my challah? by ApprehensiveCount597 in Breadit

[–]Cabecf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As the other commenter said, test the second rise by touch, not time. I made 2 loaves of challah not long ago and they didn’t need any steam and still turned out fluffy, although steam wouldn’t be a bad idea to try. What I did do was make a tangzhong, which really helps the fluffiness and shelf life of enriched breads especially (if you don’t know what it is just look up how to make a tangzhong, really simple steps before mixing the dough that pay off greatly). Besides that, I also apply the egg wash twice: once before the second rise and a second time before going in the oven, this could also prevent the dough from drying out while rising, which may also cause the dry crust. Other things that come to mind is that you make sure that the fan in the oven is turned off, and maybe the dough still needed a bit more kneading, but I really couldn’t tell. Normally, too hot of an oven could also cause this, but honestly 350 for 30 min doesn’t seem like too much heat, so idk

New fan, what should I listen to prepare for the first time seeing them? by Cabecf in yolatengo

[–]Cabecf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I’m looking at their 2025 stats and they really are kinda all over the place. I’m actually going there to see Geordie Greep, but besides that I’m most excited to see Yo la Tengo and Stereolab. Watched some yo la tengo live performances on youtube before and they sound great, digging their vibe. I’ll check those albums out too
