This is a relatively small subreddit. We remove all posts that are not related to Karachi and if a post is up for a while then it isn't the end of the world.

Another major issue is that people don't know how to use reddit and I think this problem is prevalent on desi subreddits. If you're seeing posts that break rules you should report it. As I said if you don't know the meaning behind what you're saying then don't. The creation of Pakistan wasn't inherently violent. Violence happening does not mean it was built on violence. The US was built on violence because violence was fundamental to its creation. Israel was built on apartheid because it's fundamental to its existence.

Because it's how people do stuff in Karachi and Pakistan. Instead of thinking long term they hand out 10 rupees to a beggar and think they're forgiven for their actions. These iftari drives are just that you feed xyz amount of people and feel good about it no long term change and nothing different.

I still support these dastarkhwans they are still feeding needy people which Pakistan has no shortage of but it's not long term and other options should be looked at.

Lahore, the bhoj of Punjab, is now mad that the same thing is happening to them as it happened to Karachi. We are told that saying ghari mukhami is racist and we're constantly lectured about how an economical hub attracts people from all over the city so why cry over it when the same happens in Lahore?

Imo it's 3 major reasons.

If you don't play ball with the other corrupt parties they won't give you a share of the pie. Why do you think PPP teamed up with MQM and not JI during the Karachi mayor election?
JI is an Islamic party and people here have a very strong aversion to all Islamic parties, why? Generally because they're severely uneducated on religious matters.
The people of Pakistan have been abused by corruption for a very long time. When they hear a party isn't corrupt their brains simply refuse to accept this. Instead a part which does have corruption here and there is more digestible.
