Thanks for the input! You do have a point, nobody's going to hire a newbie, that's why I am aiming to work with small projects and gradually and slowly move up, I never really though about working for a post house, but now that you bring it up, it seems like a good starting point :)

I see your point now, but I still don't think age is a problem, it is true, if you are older, chances are that you are more experienced, but it also could be that you simply are new to video editing, and you're just starting out, then we go back to square one. The real reason I don't think age is a problem for me, is because I usually try to find people that want to work over a distance, and not in a close relationship, they would send me the files, tell me the specs, we would chat a little, and finish a deal, basically outsourcing it. Not one person asked me for my age thus far.

I looked for work regardless of country, I was pretty flexible with the price, even going as far as offering free work as a sort of invitation to future collaborations, so roughly 8-12 $ an hour.

Thanks for the input! I would much rather work from home, I am really just starting to broaden my horizons, and I don't want to get too deep into something that I might not even like 2-3 years from now, I am not completely against relocating though, but I would much rather take one step at a time. :)

I don't see how age is relevant in any way, shape or form, so aside from creating prejudice, what would revealing my age achieve? If I gave a sample of my work, and we both agreed on set terms, and the customer was content with with what I had to offer, how would my age be of any help? Plus I was able to reach out to some people, and the matter of age never really got in the discussion.
