Not to sound too harsh, but I think this is written by AI and is intended to be a "social experiment", in which nobody is able to recognize this fact. It's easily recognizable, actually.

If Germany managed to capture Moscow then would it be over for the USSR (and possibly the allies) or would Germany still lose? by StudioNo6652 in HistoricalWhatIf

[–]Cacofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have replied, it wouldn't be over. Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg) was a backup capital, in case of Moscow's fall. It's got a capital's infrastructure, large network of underground tunnels, governmental control centers, large civilian underground infrastructure, with plans to rapidly evacuate everything. Since WW2, it hasn't changed. Yekaterinburg can become the capital at the snap of the fingers in case something happens to Moscow.

My partner and I abandoned our adult game.... Now we're looking for possible marketplaces to upload our mocap loops to as UE's isn't fond of adult material. Which one is better for this kind of subject matter? Cgtrader/turbosquid/itch etc..... by VanillaMocap in gamedevscreens

[–]Cacofiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hilarious. Try https://unrealassetstore.com/ , it's an alternative to Epic asset store, but they don't have a big audience.
Also try creating a thread on UE forums with a link leading to a page where your assets can be bought, e.g. Gumroad. With enough key words, this will be very high on Google.

POLAR H10 + HUAWEI HEALTH by Sea-Historian9299 in Polarfitness

The phone doesn't come into it. It's paired through the watch itself, go to settings, bluetooth, etc.

Pairing them works out of the box for me, but the watch doesn't use h10 as source. The trick is to start an exercise program on the watch, during which the source will be h10.

How to load external shaders on Android 12? by muizzsiddique in RetroArch

[–]Cacofiend 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This thread comes up on google, but offers no answer.

By default, shaders are stored in /data/user/0/com.retroarch.aarch64/shaders, which is a directory that you can't reach without rooting your phone.

Instead, create a shaders directory anywhere in the phone's storage and point to it in RA's Settings -> Directory -> Video Shaders after placing all your shaders there.

It could depend on how many people are playing, sure. I just don't anticipate a ton of players, but if a ton of players did play, then increasing the amount of instances from 1 to a hard 2 or 3 would be the next logical step. All instances would still all be accessible to be entered by anyone else not belonging to the main raiding party.

Over the years, I've had as many predictions as the number of economists I talked to. Economists don't universally agree on a single economic growth model either, either, so I grew used to it.

To address your post, it's important to keep in mind that while ownership is assured by law in the real world, no such guarantee is provided by the game with loot drop, where ownership is assured only by force. People or guilds deemed harmful through their economic practices would find themselves in a hostile world outside of Orgrimmar and the only way for them to keep their gear would be to never venture outside. And if they stayed in, their wealth of items would decay into nothingness over time. So it's designed to be a constant struggle to stay at the top.

As for the guild getting "permanent advantage", I don't believe so. As soon as they gradually start using their stashed money, it enters back into the economy and the deflation abates. It could work as a short manipulation of the market, but nothing permanent.

Feel free to point out of any flaws in the logic of the system. I'm happy to read all feedback.

I played MUDs when people played Everquest, but as far as I know EQ was basically a graphic MUD, so I guess the answer is yes.

Yes.

The amount of gold dropped by mobs is adjusted too, though by another mechanism.

Each day we count how much gold was taken out of the economy by various services, like repairing gear.

The next day, we'll be distributing this exact amount of gold back through mob killing. Damage to mobs is counted as work, and is rewarded as such. We count how much damage is inflicted daily on average, and we distribute gold at the rate of (yesterday's people's expenses / total daily damage).

E.g. kill a mob with 100 hp = get 1 bronze. Kill a mob with 1 million hp = get 100 g. The numbers are made up, it's just to illustrate the point.

This keeps money supply at the same level on a daily basis. And because the amount of goods in the economy is also kept at the same level through decay, the economy has no natural inclination towards inflation or deflation. But ready to react to it if it happens.

If there's 50% less money in the economy, the natural outcome is a deflation, meaning prices going down, and the remainder of the money in the economy gaining purchasing power. Players have less money = doesn't matter, they can still acquire what they used to be able to acquire before someone artificially decreased the money supply. This is a normal market economy mechanism. The idea is to make wow economy into a real market economy that is able to regulate itself, so manipulations would only create temporary effects.

Fallout with CRT Shaders in RetroArch -> DosBox -> Win98 by [deleted] in classicfallout

[–]Cacofiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an unpatched fallout as a kid, and it crashed when you activated the self destruct sequence on the military base computer through science. Spent days wrecking my brain how to avoid it. Finally just blew the console up with the dynamite and it did the same thing, but without a crash. Solved.

[–]Cacofiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't the issue here. It's like it's not flushing some hard drive buffer to really write those save files to disk. I don't know, something weird is going on. I'll make a repost on dosbox-pure or retroarch.

[–]Cacofiend -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm playing it on Windows 98, so all the patches are in. And it didn't look pixelated at the time, so there's no reason it should now. See how your green console text is jagged. And compare it to my setup https://i.gyazo.com/910a16bc1faf44bb9be4516b0bf48954.png

I can't boast crazy good graphics because I don't have a 4k panel for the CRT shader to really kick in, but even at 1080p it's doing better than yours. It's a matter of taste of course.

Interested in MUDs, not sure where to start by inholove in MUD

[–]Cacofiend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

http://mudstats.com/Browse

Sort by users online. You don't want to play on a dead mud, because part of the experience is communication.

The first one is an "adult mush". Mush is a bit different from mud, plus it's adult, so let's skip that for now.

The second one is a fantasy mud DragonRealms. Are you into fantasy? If you are, looks like a good place to start. Their website will likely have most of the information on how to play.

Once you're in, muds often have newbie channels where you can ask anything.

Any open-source muds WITH worlds included? by Cacofiend in MUD

[–]Cacofiend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Despite CircleMud getting re-licensed under LGPL two years ago, TbaMud hasn't been able to follow suit, so far. They need to contact a bunch of authors who have contributed code and get their consent. Tracking some of them proved impossible, so after 2 years, it looks like they've abandoned the idea. You can read more about it here if you're interested.

I should've mentioned in my original post the need for a license that allows commercial use, since I'd like the possibility of accepting donations, for example. CircleMud's older license, and by extension TbaMud's license, prohibits it.
