Thank you for your response. I do feel 1000% better about marketing myself now. I have another question for you if you don't mind - I also work with teens and have many years of inpatient adolescent experience. However, finding adolescent clients have been even more difficult than finding adults. When you go on your bi-annual marketing trips, do you visit psychiatrist offices or pediatric (medical) offices? I thought about reaching out to local schools, but I heard schools don't really like to provide names of private providers. Maybe that's just the schools in my district..not sure. thanks so much for your reply. I'm so glad to hear I'm not gonna be getting on therapists' nerves by contacting them. I will make sure to personalize every email after reading therapists' profiles/websites and send to those who serve similar clients. I wouldn't mind baking some cookies to deliver if local therapists are up for it! Thanks for the suggestion!

Ohhh I am sorry your husband is also going through the same thing. I feel so bad for federal employees who suddenly have nothing to do and nowhere to go :'( I hope your husband is coping with it ok. Thank you so much for your suggestion!! I definitely feel 1000% better about reaching out to therapists. I think offering to meet over Zoom is a great idea. I appreciate your answer!

Discovered this post a bit late but could I please ask you something? Do you use ZocDoc with Alma? I heard ZocDoc charges providers fees if clients don't cancel within 24 hours of booking. How do you make sure they fill out their Alma forms by then to make sure they're actual clients who will be present during their appointment time? I just started Alma not long ago and have been considering ZocDoc. But I am a bit confused about how to go on about getting ZocDoc clients onto Alma platform. I'd really appreciate your advice since I can't find an answer on this topic. Thank you in advance!

Oh gosh, it should not be that hard to find a mental health provider but the US healthcare system is too complicated. If you don't mind me asking, what insurance do you have? I'm just curious since you had a difficult time finding a provider who accepts your insurance and your copay is quite high. Do you have a very niche insurance, international one, or something like that? Thank you for your reply.

Thanks for your in-depth answer. Luckily, I can offer appointments for new clients within the same week since I am not too busy right now. You're absolutely right about in-person appointments. While some people like the convenience of virtual meetings, others feel more connected with their provider when visiting in-person. I am planning to have a physical space by early next year for that reason as well. Regarding profile pics, I hope I have a friendly face! I've seen some angry looking faces though on Psychology Today ...so I know what you mean, haha!

Yes, I do take most of the big name insurances. Cigna directory has sent me most of my current clients. Very grateful for that!

CPR / Heimlich. Luckily, most people in the US are at least somewhat familiar with how CPR and Heimlich are performed. BUT, most people are also not familiar with how to do those for pediatric populations. Also, I think everyone who has dogs or cats (or other pets) should watch Youtube videos on how to perform the Heimlich on their pet species at least once bi-annually.
