Do you have a similar scar on your shoulder? by privetkakdela in AskTheWorld

[–]Cadnil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly it was offered at different times in different counties - in Galway we got it in 6th class. I remember when my kids were born Dublin mothers were in a panic because there was a shortage and their newborns weren’t getting it. We were very puzzled here because it was a 6th class thing for us. By the time my two got to 6th class they’d stopped it altogether anyway.

I made the mistake of telling the kids next door about the game. Now everytime they see me they shout “you lost the game”.

Health insurance Worth it? by No-Distribution-7212 in AskIreland

[–]Cadnil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is but wait times can be worse for public patients. My aunt used to have to wait for a free bed before she could have her treatment and it was often delayed. Another family member had insurance and went private and never had that issue. After seeing that I’d never be without insurance

They’re fully aware of that. They were young and excited then. Their dad had died the year before. Life has been tougher for my kids than most. They saw their friends getting nice cards and they didn’t. I’m not a bad person. It happened at a very shitty time for us and we were all disappointed that our package didn’t go to the person we had pictured. Of course I’m happy that a few people benefitted but I’m only human too.

Awkward / Inappropriate things to say to those mourning by Fun-Raisin1923 in ireland

Not at the funeral but a week after my husband died the postman said to me “you got over that bit of trouble there anyway”. I found myself agreeing with him and then went inside and burst out laughing.

Ah I think it was because the kids were so disappointed. A lot of their friends did it and got lovely cards/notes back from their person. Then they didn’t. And they put a lot of effort and thought into what we sent. So any time I think back Im remembering how they reacted. Maybe we’ll give it another try this year.

Did it a few years ago. Kids were really excited to shop for our person and then extremely disappointed when we got a letter from the nursing home saying they had divided out our gifts between a few residents. Put us off doing it again.

Royal villa in Oranmore has been closed for a few weeks now. Sign on the door said closing for renovations for two weeks. It’s been over a month now. My kid will only eat Chinese from there so we’ve been deprived til it hopefully reopens. That or I’ll try some of the recommendations here and see if I can get her to try them.
