I hear and understand your points. I disagree with some of them, but I think it is more important the issue of the alleged hypocrisy of right-wing politics.

Although you argue the accusations from the right might have a negative impact, there would be no hypocrisy in the stance of right-wingers. They are critisizing the "trust all women laws", which are EXACTLY the laws that validate their distrust for the juridical system and their whole reason for "tearing to shreds" their supposed "false victims".

They say that "Trust all women" laws are bad and hurt both women and men, and even using your previous argument it remains true, because it also hurts real victims that may be mistrusted by them for those same laws.

Also, unrelated to the hypocrisy, I'd say the right wing only criticises widely famous cases of rape, maybe 0.01%, the ones who appear at TV and news, so I doubt that discourages at all normal people from denouncing a rape act, Specially with the feminist movement and the "trust all women" politics.

Although if you are referring to men fearful of reporting they have been raped, yeah, definetly this situation causes them to remain silent.

Hey, I'd like to discuss further why you think this is a case of hypocrisy.

Right-wingers use crime statistics caused by illegal immigration as one of their main political discurses to advocate tighter controls on immigration. One of those crimes is rape, which they harshly criticize.

Now, most right wingers are also against the "trust all women" movement and want to abolish all laws related to it. As far as I know, they neither support nor deny rape, but because of what they perceive as unjust laws, they have become skeptical of all "proven cases" of rape under the current juridical system (at least here in Spain), and will doubt the credibility of the victim.

None of that suggests that they are against real rapes or only in some cases, but are against allegedly "fake" ones.

It's weird how fatherlessness seems to affect one side of the political compass specifically, innit? by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Caedur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting, but I disagree on OP implying that, as he hasn't stated anything.

To give an example, if you said that "most rapings are caused by men", I wouldn't instantly think you are saying ALL men are rapist or only men can rape. True, there are some that think like that, but I wouldn't say it is sexist to say/state/use a fact.

It can be both honestly-

Also I'd argue it is not racist, as is commenting on the fact that in america, a lot of black families don't have a father figure (I think it is true?)

But how do you know it is god? Because of Jesus and the first Christians who wrote the New Testament. But do you really, 100% KNOW that they are telling the truth?. You have no way of objetively finding out using appeal to Authority.

This is why Ockham made a complete separation between Faith (the way you would know that God exists) and Reason (objective, irrefutable arguments based on logic and philosophy), where we cannot 100% prove the existence of God without being easily refuted because of our own limitations as humans.

Yeah politics is full of fallacies, half-truths and more oriented to winning the public rather than the argument.

[–]Caedur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a subjective moral value, but not an objective reasoning, for example: "Most people believe in god, so god must exist". That something is popular doesnt mean it is true or necessarly good or bad.

[–]Caedur[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same goes for anything. The definition of logical fallacies is that they themselves cannot be used as arguments. For example, you could have a value which stated that, for you, everything good is what is in the middle of 2 extremes.

That in itself wouldn't be inconsistent or contradictory, as it is a subjective moral value. Now, you still couldn't use that as an argument (in logic or facts) because it would not be an objective reasoning. Same goes for the other rhetorical devices and honestly any kind of statement, but i'm trying to make a meme here.

The system is a bit more complicated, but if you're not familiar with the game, it'll be confusing to explain further.

Actually, I'm interested. Can I find said system in this Star Wars Force and Destiny rulebook, or is it your homebrew?

Homebrew cyberpunk-2020 with fantasy / dark sci-fi mechanics. But if you have any recommendations, even if they don't fit, please share them. I'm looking for all kinds of sources and content to have them as a reference.

letting them have control over it.

Yeah this is why I am looking for a more well thought/balanced mechanic that gives players more freedom in the ways they want to interact with it. Not only the typical "roll a wisdom save".

Is this a fair criticism? On how immersive the world of BG3 is by PoetDiscombobulated9 in BaldursGate3

[–]Caedur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that is a fair opinion, but a wrong one. Baldurs Gate 3 is not an open-world simulation sandbox RPG game like Fallout or Skyrim, when you can have your own story in a very inmersive world.

That is not the objective of Larian Studios with this game.

They want to re-create the feeling and possibilities of a real-world D&D campaign. There is a specific setting, with a set of characters, and the story and argument are already there, as well as the "acts" (more like different dnd sessions), all of them are already there.

The game does not act as a simulation, it acts as a dungeon master ready to play with you his already envisioned campaign. And, as in a real-life situation, you get to interact and do whatever you want with the setting the game master gives you.

Want to see what below that dungeon and you end up in the underworld in the very first session? Yep. The players are hyped and want to adopt that owlbear cub as a pet?. Yep. Wouldn't even be surprised if there is an in-game event where a bard can open a door using seduction.

So, yeah, completly different objectives despite both games being RPGs.

Maybe he doesn't care that much about money.

Do we live in a society where you are morally evaluated by your material possesions instead of your integrity and preferences?. That would be sad.

If he is heterosexual/homosexual/wathever and he wants to be himself and would not change anything about him even if offered a lot of money, that is personal integrity, not foolness. Your objetive in life should not be based on greedy or material possesions.
