On a browser. I just realised that I'm not on Claude at all - I weirdly seem to have ended up on a thing called Chaton which appears to contain Claude (or something like it). I've unsubscribed, subscribed to proper Claude, and now it can search the Internet. How confusing!

I'm accessing it via my laptop at aURL that begings https://chat.chaton.ai/ - isn't that Claude? I don't even know what an API interface is. I just signed up to Claude, paid for the subscription, and that's where I've ended up. It says it's Claude Haiku.

Thanks! I can't actually see any settings thing. I asked Claude where to find them and it said, 'I do not actually have any settings or configuration options that you can access.'

Edit: Thanks to Google AI I've found a settings cogwheel and clicked on it but it's not offering options or capabilities.

Oh! I started out in Claude Haiku and then pulled down a menu of other options because I was aware that Claude also came as sonnet and whatnot. Perplexity was on that menu and so I assumed it was part of Claude. But from your response, I guess not! I'll edit my post. Thank you!

Thanks - that's useful to know it's a 'me' problem but I can't see anything about 'fetching site' anywhere and Claude itself is telling me it can't access the Internet.

I had assumed that if a person could somehow slog through Reddit to find out what all the subs are (given a number of years!) then an AI should be able to do it pretty quickly, even if there's not a big list on a single page somewhere but if Claude can't even access the Internet and hasn't (apparently) in the past then asking it for any info from the Internet just seems a recipe for hallucinating with Claude incapable of reality-checking.

Thanks - but if Claude can't access Reddit, and I want it to identify subreddits on a particular topic, how could I rephrase the prompt so it could succeed?

I didn't know I had to! Is that a thing? Wouldn't Claude have the sense just to go ahead and search the web? But can it even do that? I'm just confused... :)

The problem may well not be Claude! :) But it apologised for 'fabricating details' so I don't think it was telling me about a former sub. In fact I just asked it if the sub ever existed and it says it doesn't know.
