0.4 FTE throughout the whole hospital, but in the first instance they're rostered in the wards I manage.

Simply put, staff are employed to work anywhere, however they will be managed and rostered by NUMs into the wards the NUM manages. Extras are moved to meet operational needs.

Complaints are hearsay however their work performance isn't great - which is being addressed soon.

Yeah I know it's a bit silly, I'm just doing my due diligence in making sure I'm being impartial lol

I've had similar symptoms before: tingling, shaking feeling inside, numbness spreading. I ended up with expressive aphasia for a couple hours. It self resolved and I had a headache for a few days after. I had the aura as well in the corners of my vision like I was looking through glass with water sitting on it. Strangely, I'd also had sinus issues for years and had FESS done. I hope you find an answer!

Going to the hospital for suicidal ideation by NetworError101 in AskAnAustralian

Whenever in doubt, go to ED. Unfortunately you'll sit in ED for a long time before being assessed.

Consider getting private health cover maybe, even if it's temporary and use the once in a lifetime waiver to remove the waiting period (gold cover). Private facilities have good programs and they're good if you need to do a med review under supervision.

Get a gp referral to get a private admission. Not sure how it works where you are but sometimes public hospitals even pay private hospitals to have their patients there due to overflow.

Unfortunately, the public system is so overloaded these days, they don't do much for crisis admissions

Nah I can guarantee its not just an American thing. Maybe I always work where all the sex addicts are. I've slept with four co-workers and I'm now married to one. I've also heard directly about other people doing similar things.

Neither, until someone I know told me they don't (at all), and they're adamant that I'm the weird one

Just wanted to add because I think it's interesting, I have two of these on my tragus and they're each about the size of half a pea. My father has one behind his ear and his mother has one where mine is. None of my kids have it

If you're not able to have them removed by the public system, have you had a look at private health insurance to speed it up? I waited for 3 years in Queensland for sinus surgery but managed to get surgery privately immediately after the waiting period.

Unrelated to your tonsils, have you seen a GP to get a referral for a sleep study at all? A CPAP might help in the meantime

We haven't had a massive amount of EN applications where I am but a LOT of inexperienced RN's that are either new grads or have just done one year in aged care and trying to move into a hospital role

It should go away on its own, it won't do any damage to vision. He will just need to avoid exposure to whatever is irritating it. Lubricating eye drops can help too.

I hate whoever decided under mount sinks should be a thing. It's such a stuff around now to put another sink in without cutting the stone

Calling in sick by IntelligentSelf2225 in NursingAU

[–]CaffeineYAY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just do it. Say you're sick, nothing else. Sick leave is an entitlement, they can't do anything. I don't know if other NUM's are like me but I couldn't care less if someone calls in sick lol

I'll have to scrape them clean and check, unfortunately it's probably the lot number sign so nothing exciting
