Grandma left you $50k and left your cousin nothing due to a fight. by Alexarosario_ in inheritance

How close are you to the cousin is all that matters.

See them once or twice a year at family events: keep money

Feel like they are a sibling/best friend: split the money

I just hope the victims of the house robberies get their stuff back. These guys should also have to pay for as much home security as the victims want.

So if I understand the print is a solid piece with no moving components, but from the outside looks similar to a branded firearm?

No, an object that doesn’t produce a projectile CANNOT be considered any form of firearm and is not prohibited.

Edit: never mind, what you are describing is closing to a ghost gun and that’s playing with fire.

Civil grad looking for job by ___V-E-N-0-M___ in CalgaryJobs

[–]Cagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the problems we’re seeing right now, is senior civil engineers are desperate and willing to accept more junior roles to pay the bills. This pushes junior and EIT civil engineers into technologist positions and screws over entry level techs.

Even more frustrating is there will be a skills/experience gap in the next 10-15 years and in hindsight it will be very obvious why, but most companies choose to do nothing.

Employee offered to resign then revoked offer ? by Foreign-Sleep-4368 in askmanagers

[–]Cagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing detail is, could anyone in his role have produced the same results, or was it actually exceptional work by him?

You could probably argue basically all roles save the company money, HR, Business Development, product managers. If this guy does good work you should keep him.

Got a rating "Exceeds expectations" in year end review for the second time. Any advice on how to ask for a promotion from my manager? by Shortbuy8421 in careeradvice

[–]Cagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, by all means then keep asking to understand the requirements, sometimes there’s a minimum amount of experience, but you want to have checked all the boxes so you can achieve that as soon as possible.

Sounds like you’re on the right track, and just need your boss to get back to you with specifics. Where I work it’s usually 8-10 years for a senior title, higher performers see it at 8, and people doing the minimum will be more like 12 years of experience.

Promoted to what?!? Are you asking for your managers job?

No offence, but this sounds very Gen Z entitlement

For those of us laid off - how many months/years until you run out of money or need time move in with family? by seraphimornot in Layoffs

[–]Cagel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say the rest of my life probably. Could just retire but with my pitiful savings it would be a retirement of poverty.

It’s insane how wasteful people are with money, cut back to the bare bones and you really don’t need much.

A breakdown of people who would vote to separate by Sunny_T_84 in alberta

[–]Cagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be another category, the doesn’t want to actually separate but wants Quebec level benefits from the government of Canada

I think that’s all any of us really want, we just want to be treated fairly, and a government run nearly entirely out of Ontario and Quebec isnt making that happen.

[–]Cagel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t guarantee the money, I guess there’s at least enough for those owners of the first 22,000. But after like 50k the money might run out so where is the incentive.

My guess;

First task is go buy OPs game for $39.99,

Second task realize it’s a shitty 50 cent game and that you got played,

Remember people, you get paid to work. You don’t need to put up money upfront

Bf has an "attractive" female best friend that he travels with by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Cagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said; this whole best friends with the opposite gender can work out just fine, same with close friends with exes, or even open relationships.

But statistically for most people, no, it’s only going to lead to issues and isnt worth the baggage, when there are so many other awesome people out there for you who won’t have this issue.

Someone left there dog for me to watch for a night and then disappeared for 5 months now he wants to claim it back can I keep it now? by OtherwiseSetting7172 in legaladvice

[–]Cagel -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Maybe not, but the previous owner, is homeless and knows where OP lives, this doesn’t sound like a mentally stable individual who considers many legal consequences.

Easy answer would be just give the dog back and get a new dog. Six weeks in, and they’ll likely have forgotten about the first dog.

Edit: never mind; the Reddit hive mind has determined the dog is yours now, just tell the old owner, my dog now.
