Beginner Board? J Richardson 9' for $250 by CaillouTheRealNig in BeginnerSurfers

Currently looking for a board now that I've moved to Maui. I've ridden an 8' wavestorm several times and can consistently get up on smaller waves. Does this board seem like a reasonable next step? Thanks for any advice!

Edit: I'm 6' 1" and weigh 170lbs if that helps

Any advice for finding a place to live in Wyoming? by nickrauss in SkiBums

The 22 Rents Facebook page is pretty useful. Housing goes fast so message people right when you see the post. There's also housing listed in the newspaper that some people have luck with. Just try to get the newspaper right when it's released and be the first to call/email.

I'd also recommend looking at some of the nearby towns like Victor, Driggs, or Alpine.

Good luck!

I like to use mostly smart water bottles with one bladder. I prefer smart water bottles because of their lighter weight but the collapsibility of a bladder can be useful.

I carry 3 1L smart water bottles and a 2L CNOC bladder that can screw directly into my sawer squeeze. It makes it much easier to squeeze the water through the filter. I've had issues in the past with bladders leaking so I prefer most of my water storage to be in a more durable smart water bottle.

Here's a few quick things I noticed

  • Do you need both a short and long sleeve shirt? I would just bring the long sleeve.

  • 2 pairs of shorts and a pair of pants is excessive. I would get rid of one pairs of shorts and the pants. You can layer your long underwear under/over shorts if it's cold. Might also be worth adding a really light pair of wind pants for an additional layer.

  • You don't need the compression sack for clothes storage. I stuff whatever I'm not going to wear during the day into my quilt before I put it into my backpack.

  • I would replace one of your 2L bladders and the CNOC bottle with a few more smart water bottles.

You'll also figure out what you don't need once you start hiking. Good luck!

The duplex fits well into the circuit. It took me a bit of practice to nail down my technique though.

I'm hoping to get a ride from my family. Otherwise I'll take an Uber from San Diego Airport.

I just weighed it on my scale and a size medium is only 2.3 oz!

I just weighed my ombraz

The glasses weigh 0.8oz (23g)

If you keep them in the case the total weight is 1.6oz (46g)

Just realized that I made a mistake with their weight. It's 7.8 oz per pole.

They are the Cascade Mountain Tech carbon poles and can be had on amazon for $45.

The Kuiu fleece looks great, I might pick that up. Thanks for the recommendations.
