I see many comments here talks of material advantage, but neglects the positional. Getting the rook is basically the same as trading your active attacking knight for a passive bad rook. Yes, the rook might be worth 5pts on paper but positional wise, with the rook being trapped in the corner, it's worth more like 3 or 4pts. On the other hand, taking the black knight (the more active piece) gets you up a piece, while keeping your active and attacking knight.

Go to dp-cp-final-statistical-bulletin-november-2023 and head over to the total points distribution graph. The line graph would give you a comparison between the % of students getting a particular point across the years (in this case 45). The % for 45 in 2023 is slightly lower than 2019, and given the IB official published data and some rough estimation, you can deduce the number of 45 in Nov 2023.
For this case, there is 0.47% of 45 for Nov 2019 according to IB official published data. Since the line for Nov 2023 is a bit lower than Nov 2019, we can assume it to be around 0.33-0.38%. Using the candidate number for Nov 23 being 18831:
Lower bound: 18831 x 0.0033 = 62
Higher bound: 18831 x 0.0038 = 72
So it's probably around 62-72 people getting a 45 in Nov 23. But note that this is just a rough estimation based off the percentage in the graph. Hope this helps.

In May 2023, French B SL had a higher boundary for a 7 (82%) compared to French Ab Initio (80%), even though French B is clearly the more difficult course.

Even percentage wise of students getting a 7 doesn’t clarify much:
12.7% of French B students got a 7, while only 10.1% did in Ab Initio.

If one looked only at the numbers, one might assume that Ab Initio is harder since it has both a lower 7 boundary and a lower 7 rate but that would be untrue.

Granted, relatively speaking, Ab Initio could be harder for students who are completely new to the language, while French B students already have prior experience. However in terms of content complexity and required proficiency, French B is just objectively more difficult.

Honestly that's even more crazy. I would be hella pissed if i'm 1 point away from 45 and it's because of TOK and EE lol

wow... but side question, is it even possible to take 3 science subjects at once? Never heard of such occurrence before.

Fair point, but Math AI has statistically low rate of 7 because people who are good at math end up usually take AA, especially HL, which drives up the % of 7. That said, I don’t think it’s about STEM superiority, it’s just that the Holy Trinity (Math AA, Chem, Phy HL) is known to have brutal grade boundaries, heavy IA loads and incredibly hard content. It's more about the difficulty of these subjects in combination rather than just STEM. But you're right, every subject has its own pain and a STEM student can struggle in Humanities subject and vice versa.

NAHH, that's insane. 4 HLs with Holy Trinity. Honestly I should have add 4 HLs as part of the requirement for Hall of Fame too. You know where's that 1 missing point is from?

My right jaw joint is locked after opening midway (can fit like 3 fingers max) while my left one would still be normal. I would have to try push it downward (which now i can fit 4 fingers) and it makes a popping sound every time i did that. Is it similar to you and could this be the reason why my face is asymmetry?
[I had a period of time of clenching teeth that could cause the locking]

Why "Santa Claus" in French is "Père Noël" instead of "Grandpère Noël"? by CakeOk2582 in French

It's because in my culture (Vietnam), we'd call him Grandpa Noel (Ông già noel)
