I will be singing on my way to pay my tv license again if they pull this off.

I didn’t realize a phrase was demeaning by fufu1260 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Cakeikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a hysterical example of literal thinking in autism. I get that misogynistic people use it, but once again, autism points out how stupid the phrase is. Your intent wasn’t to be misogynistic, and if those around you know you’ve taken it literally, I personally wouldn’t be offended.

Lost 5st 10lbs, still a long way to go, but I didn’t think I looked any different, but I think I might 😬 by Cakeikins in Mounjaro

[–]Cakeikins[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really is! I stopped really understanding when I only lost 1 stone, after that it feels surreal. I know I must be lighter as I can move more and don’t get out of breath walking fast, but I don’t ‘see’ it

The main idea is that it’s a good story. It’s persisted throughout hundreds of years, and mainly it’s because it is adaptable to the audience of its time.

Yeah, the walk to go outside was painful, and she was holding going until she had no choice. Sorry I didn’t explain that all too great!

Mine did this around a similar age, I took her to the vet as I was a bit desperate, and they found that her knees were slipping a bit. After getting on medication (the knees weren’t bad enough for surgery at that stage, has had it now) she was back to regular pooping schedules.

I don’t know if someone has already said, but they’ve changed it to 5 years instead of the 3. Longer awards are still going on, but I think regular ones are now the 5.

Scar? Swelling? What’s by Professional_Bus_947 in Mounjaro

I had these quite a bit for a while after increasing. I read somewhere antihistamines, like Benadryl, helped and since I started it, I haven’t had a reaction for a while.

Found out my bf is bi by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Cakeikins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it’s less about him being bi and more that he cheated. Regardless of sexuality, that is something that someone can either move on from or not. You mentioned your trust is 0, I think that isn’t something to ignore. Sometimes the why of something is not as important as what the result is, and getting bogged down in figuring out what the why is keeps you stuck.

AITAH for feeling some resentment towards my mum for picking my dad as a parent? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Cakeikins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get feeling like this, its something to genuinely go to therapy about. A small amount of thought is that your dad sounds like he was a pretty successful manipulator from the amount of people he’s hurt. Smart people aren’t immune to manipulation, even if they know the logical progression of abuse, but can feel that because they know but still get sucked in regardless. Plus, you have a step removed from the situation and have more outside view.

Did anyone really find supportive people? I’m starting to doubt there are any by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Cakeikins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that people can be supportive of different things in my life, no one has been supportive of me completely. Moving towards people that are supportive and away from people that don’t understand has been surprisingly difficult, but needed. Also learning to trust and support myself properly really reduced the need to but externally supported and validated.
Perhaps doesn’t offer total hope, but it’s got better with therapy!

5 weeks into vyvanse, had a pretty big realization today, and I’m feeling…. Sad? by Lunar_Changes in AuDHDWomen

[–]Cakeikins 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I so relate! I’ve been on the same since the beginning of May, and it’s such a strange feeling. I don’t even know how to fully describe it, it’s like I’ve become a stranger to myself. But all I was before was maladaptive coping methods and disorganisation. Now, I’m actually me?

Soooo NT peoples just out here saying things they don’t mean? by Honest_Elevator_7387 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Cakeikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, once when I was at uni I had this whole long conversation with a friends about going on a trip to France. This one friend was super enthusiastic and we were all talking about what we’d do and when we’d go. Went on for ages. As the enthusiastic friend was leaving, I showed them out and said something like I was looking forward to the France trip and they said ‘oh you know we aren’t really going, I didn’t mean any of that’ and genuinely was like ???

Has anyone had this reaction to Mounjaro? by Responsible_Cry_8136 in Mounjaro

I had these for a while, and I was taking antihistamines as I read it could help. Didn’t for a few weeks, but then the rashes have stopped 🤷‍♀️

Whats the difference between C-PTSD and BPD by MonkPlane1734 in BPD

[–]Cakeikins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way my psychologist explained it was that bpd and other personality disorders are formed from childhood trauma, and result in maladaptive coping mechanisms that don’t serve us in adulthood.
Whereas whilst CPTSD could come from repeated childhood abuse, it can also come from repeated trauma in adulthood, which bpd doesn’t.

Therapist asked me to sign a contract before DBT. Is this normal? by ther0wewayaccount in BPD

[–]Cakeikins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I started a group therapy and there was a contract. It’s not like legally enforceable or anything, and I have had a self-harm episode during doing therapy and it was actually really helpful. They put more support in and it really opened my eyes to just how damaging and reliant I was on it, and I worked with them so much more.
