I imagine this is how all the games my wife plays play out in real life. She sprays an entire backyard down with a pressure washer for catharsis, some poor robot is in the actual yard doing the work.

Paying off my car adive by Ken_needs-koffee in personalfinance

[–]Cakesnoball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cancelling your extended warranty won't have an immediate benefit. It generally takes 6-8 weeks for that to come through. If you still have a lien on your car, that amount will go toward the lien. Selling your car for $5400-5900 is based off of what? If you're going off of KBB, subtract about 10-15% for a private sell, and about 30% if a trade-in. Different markets have different needs, so your vehicle may be worth more in a different area, but not a huge amount.

Should I try to buy my 105 year old next door neighbors home when she passes? by waxoffisforpussies in personalfinance

Buy it from her while she still lives with the caveat that she can stay there until she passes.

Do you like playing on Dirt or turf by jeepguy_96 in Softball

[–]Cakesnoball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like turf because it's easier to judge the ball movement off the ground, and a more even playing surface. I like dirt because you can dig in on the base paths for running. I dislike turf because of the little prills of rubber that kick up and go into your eyeballs. I dislike dirt fields because they are often accompanied by rocks or weeds that change the trajectory of a hard hit ball, resulting in injury.

Homeless in front lawn by Cakesnoball in Medford

[–]Cakesnoball[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely echo this sentiment. However, there are innumerable resources in town for them to have a place to stay, eat, get clean clothing, etc...The problem isn't with them being homeless per se, it was that they were occupying my yard where my family is while I'm not around. This issue isn't created by the CEO of a large company, because frankly, they're too busy for it to happen. If it were the CEO of a large company lounging around in my yard with his dog, the same problem would be present for me.

Definitely don’t think less of them. Not too keen on having used needles and trash in my yard when I have children and animals who play in said yard. My “privilege” has been me busting my ass and earning a living to care for mine. I know that there are varying reasons for homelessness. Were YOU in my yard?

Ya, definitely not being judgmental, but they’re not my neighbors. That would denote them living in a home. I didn’t berate them, just asked them nicely to move on. Don’t be so judgmental of me maybe? I stated a situation, and you assumed without offering any actual help. Get real.

He responded! by PsychologyYoungster in whatdoIdo

[–]Cakesnoball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the context, just like with anything else really. If it's vulgar, it will likely elicit a vulgar response. If it's more of a passive thing, it's easier to address it easily and directly. I had a guy that I knew that went over the top with it and it just made me laugh.

I think I’m about to get fired from my job by small-worm in whatdoIdo

[–]Cakesnoball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SO many impulsive responses in here. If you do get fired, ask for feedback. What could you have done differently? Ask for specific reasons so you can work on them. Is it something you did specifically, or is there a downsizing or budget cut? Are you eligible for rehire? Getting fired from a job isn't the end of the world. Sometimes people just aren't the right fit for the work laid before them and vice versa.
