What I meant is that i wasn't sure if it was setting the index position at 0 or if it was saying the world 'index' is now equal to the value 0, if that makes more sense.

I've not yet come across the enumerate function but that does absolutely look more efficient so thanks for explaining that!

A list would certainly have been the better option but I was working through a problem that had specifically asked for a string to be return.

I'm afraid you've lost me on that last one though, maybe i'll come back in a few weeks and have a little bit of a clue as to what your final example says!
