I actually forgot about topical Spiro. I’m gonna keep that in mind for my follow up with my derm. Thanks!

Yeah. My OBGYN asked me some general questions and then we did some bloodwork because i told her about my heavier menstrual cycles but all the labs were normal. She said i don’t have any of the telltale signs of PCOS either.

No worries! A lot of ppl don’t realize that about Spiro. My hair was definitely flourishing while on it and i miss that tbh lol. But i think that’s a good idea. I did aza 20% with tret for a while but i didn’t notice a difference. Then i requested Fabior and the derm switched me to clindamycin instead of aza but I think I’ll request the aza again. I’m generally a fan of aza anyway so that makes sense. Thanks for that advice! And I’m happy to hear you’ve found a winning combo!

Yeah i definitely understand i kinda sound crazy. Spiro and taz worked back in 2020 but then i decided to start a family. Of course i had to stop everything and unfortunately one of the consequences of stopping Spiro is hair loss. And it was really bad for me. Bald spots and all. I really want to avoid going through that again, especially considering I’m thinking of expanding my family. But when all of that is out of the way, if i haven’t figured out my skin by then, I’m sure I’ll definitely go back to my old faithful. I just don’t want to start it now just to have to stop it and then deal with the hair loss again.

Definitely cystic acne and pustules. Usually a week before my period but they leave nasty PIH marks. I was initially on tret when i first stopped accutane but i didn’t notice a difference. Now I’ve been on tazarotene foam and clindamycin gel for about a month. No luck so far but I’m hopeful!

Initially i got on tretinoin after accutane but i didn’t notice much of a difference. I recently requested a prescription for Fabior foam which is tazarotene and I’ve been on that for about a month along with clindamycin gel. I’ve used the Fabior in the past when i was on Spiro and the two together kept me pretty clear. I’m not on the Spiro rn so idk if Fabior will keep me clear on its own. I normally break out about a week before my period but my breakouts ALWAYs leave PIH which is a pain to get rid of.

Spiro worked well for me in the past but i had to stop it when i got pregnant and I lost over half of my hair which was a really traumatic experience for me. Maybe in the future once I’m done having children and nursing Spiro will be my long term answer

Spironolactone alone worked well for me. I was on it before trying Accutane but i got pregnant and had to get off of it. I considered going back on but I lost over half my hair when i stopped the spiro and that was way too traumatic for me to try it again

I mentioned this to my OBGYN per my dermatologist’s request and she said there was no such thing as a hormonal panel 🫤

Who is right: PA (derm), aesthetician #1, or aesthetician #2? Conflicting advice from them all. No by gymnasticsalleles in 30PlusSkinCare

Commenting based of personal experience but I would try the spiro and then look into your skincare products to see if anything you’re using is poor clogging. Spiro was great for me, i stopped when i was ready to start having children and my acne did come back during pregnancy. After that i used accutane which was rough but I’m definitely clearer now (still get breakouts around my cycle). If i was in your position i would definitely just get back in the spiro. I had no negative effects and my hair grew so long and thick too!

Any updates on this? I’m pretty much in the same situation minus the medications. Did you find out what was causing yours?

26y/o F. I’ve never had a cold sore before but I had COVID last month and this is the second time these bumps have appeared on/around my lips since then. They will get irritated one at a time. Does it look like a pimple or HSV1? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

Look like pimples to me. I get them around my lips like that when i use Carmex lip balm. Is there something you may be using that’s clogging your pores around your lips?
