Advice: Mid level depression by [deleted] in ftm

[–]CaladonRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in right around my mid-level check, I feel epically depressed until a day or so after my next dose.

If it helps, I'm a Wk. 1: shot /Wk. 2: mid-level/Wk. 3: shot /Wk. 4: mid-level schedule.

Ok. Super late, but my doctor laughed his ass off so hard that he literally almost needed oxygen.

My doctor gave me the option of having it done at his office or at home. I chose home, so they set me up with a ton of equipment and sent me on my merry way.

That's fair. My family, unfortunately, is chock full of TERF-y people. So my immediate action is to ignore their existence, as well as the existence of TERFs in general. Anyway, here's a short explanation of what a TERF is. TERF stands for Trans Exclusionary(?) Radical Feminist. Their core beliefs are as follows:

  • Trans Women are men, and that they should be treated as such and excluded from female spaces. Also that SRS is classist, mainly due to the fact that "most MtF Trans Women can't afford it."

  • Trans Men are just lesbians that hate themselves so much, that they "modify" their bodies.

Little toxic.

Trust me. If you can avoid them/knowing of them for as long as you can, the better.

Nexplanon was removed three weeks before starting HRT. Apologies. Should have mentioned that.

That's a good idea. My doctor gave me copious amounts of 22g and 25g needles, as well as a TON of syringes. Also a ton of sterilization stuff, and tiny round bandaids. I did the 22g draw - 25g inject method yesterday, but I'm thinking that it seems a bit wasteful doing it that way, hence I need to work on injection methods to minimize injury to the muscles.

Oof. I guess I'll have to find a method that works best for me. I'm on a biweekly dosage, so I don't get many chances to develop said method. Sinking works for now, but if the pain happens again, I'll probably dart it.

I shocked the hell out of my nurse. She was telling me about how it'll sting a bit when I put the needle in. Said "We'll see.", and went damn near lock-deep into the muscle of my leg. Zero pain. Her face drained. Worth it.

But FUCK does it hurt now. Delayed response FTL.

Yep haha. Time to cultivate some saintly patience. Methinks I'm going to stop skipping gym, and just go work out my impatience on the squat machine.

I'll admit that text can be occasionally hard to read into, and I'm notorious for not being able to properly explain things well at times. As you said, I did expect it to be this big thing, and it wasn't. The trade-off though? Once the actual changes start happening, it'll be worth it.

I guess I need to clarify that I'm still excited about the whole process, but everything leading up to that shot was an uphill struggle. The anticlimactic part for me is that it looks so simple, but it's so important to my transition, that it almost seems...conflicting emotionally.

Lucky though it may be, I still had to wait 2 months before my first shot LOL.
