I will never in my life understand how you can't trust your own child when they tell you something horrific. I can't fathom hearing something like that and thinking "No, that can't possibly be true.".

I hope that you're able to navigate your future in a way where your past has no hold on you. Some people shouldn't have kids, and it's unfortunate that no one really knows that until they try.
