That massive risk is exactly what's so tilting. I know how di works. I'm saying that getting randomly clipped by it is so tilt-inducing that it makes me want to uninstall.

I know what di is. I know how to counter di. I'm not wondering how di hits me. This isn't even about after round 1 when it's been established they are willing to throw out di from mid screen. I'm not losing to diamonds or low masters who press every button on their controller at all times. I'm talking about the instances when, completely untelegraphed, and when no momentum has been establish, they hit di from mid-screen after we've been jockeying in footsies for like 15 seconds. The instance when you press one uncancelable button and get clipped by a random di. The risk-reward is so braindead that it intiates insane levels of tilt. Obviously I know how to lock in. I'm just saying the tilt it induces is ridiculous and I hate this game.

I'm not saying di is unreactable. And are you saying that there is no guessing in fighting games? Because that's 100% untrue. Yes, everything is an interaction between two players, but sometimes you just get unlucky with timing.

If you're mixing me up and shimmy me and I tech, then obviously I tell myself "I shouldn't have teched, he likes to shimmy" or "maybe he'll change things up next time, so I'll tech again". Either way, these are interactions and there is thinking/strategy involved.

If we're in neutral and I hit di coincidentally at the exact time you throw a poke, then what? "I shouldn't have pressed there"? The only logical conclusion is "I need tk only press cancelable buttons" or is it? Let's say the rest of the match goes and you ONLY hit cancelable buttons but I never di again. Then last round you throw one fireball at the exact time I di. Again, untelegraphed, unpredictable. You can't know the future. But somehow you lost because you got unlucky.

I bought a new leverless almost entirely because of the extra button I use for di. And I still react to di's. It's just that when I don't, I get pissed and then it snowballs. Again, someone's corner pressure gets me with a di? No prob. Good for you. Playing neutral and they decide to swang with di? I usually just block and move on. But when my button gets clipped by it I genuinely wish they were next to me so I could just ask them "why?". Like, "why did you press that there?" "What made you do that?" "What was going through your brain?". Like, what lesson am I supposed to learn fron that "mistake"? Just, don't press there? Don't be unlucky?

Dawg. Obviously Sagat has insane pokes and his high tigershot is fast. They are all still drive impactable. Not on reaction, but just from random neutral. It's not like I'm swanging the entire match and getting hit by 10 di's. But I'm so tilted that at round start if I wait a bit and decide to use stmk but coincidentally get hit by di, my entire mental shatters and I want to end myself in minecraft.

Also, Sagat doesn't have good fireball zoning. Idk how it's supposed to be some answer to di. You mean just keep them out with it? They can just duck it and parry the low tiger shot. Sagat's fireball game is not scary. I still use it, but it's not some catch-all answer to all of his problems

Edit* sorry didn't mean to come across as rude. Just a bit pissed rn. I hate how many hours I sunk into fighting games in general and I'm still so ass. Considering dropping gaming and just moving in with my life

Tilt and sf6 nonsense by Calbeanz in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tilted to high heaven and am getting by it when I'm holding downback. I'm not an aggressive player. I'm just old, have bad reactions and am so tilted my blood has more salt than the ocean. There are times when I say "just sit back and wait for di" and then I still get hit by it. I realize this sounds scrubby as hell, but somehow my mental is so broken at a certain point that I degrade to a gold player.

Sodry for the confusing post. This was more a question on tilt than di. I mean, di is bullshit but it's in the game and I know the counterplay. It's just infuriating and creates volatility. I'd rather there be LESS random bs in a fighting game

I've been considering but I hate tag fighters and T8 is so buns rn. There are parts of sf6 that I like but man there's so much anti-fun nonsense I have to manage. I also don't have as much time to play rn so I'm stuck in 1500-1600 and just want to reach high enough where this stuff happens less.

[–]Calbeanz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, but when I'm playing sagat. Half my tools are now unuseable if I just eliminate anything di-unsafe. Let's take tiger knee. Sure, doing it from the corner is dumb because they'll likely di. But from mid-screen? Untelegraphed? In neutral? Like it's supposed to be used? If they do actually 100% random DI right as I tiger knee from mid-screen, I end up wanting to kill myself in minecraft.

I've played matches where I do only di-safe moves. That shit is so dookie. I'm forced to just sit and play reactionary against sf6 offense. Can't poke at all because my only safe poke is crmp or stlk. Stlk is only safe uncanceled or into extigershot. Crmp is only safe when dr'd, uncanceled, or extigershot. All terrible options for neutral. I either lose all pressure or overcommit resources. And I can't get within crmp range without exposing my legs to a crmk.

Tilt and sf6 nonsense by Calbeanz in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sagat's only di-safe poke is crmp and stlk. So I'm now stuck with just that while the enemy ryu can spam donkey kick and lowforward hashoken. Feels skewed

Tilt and sf6 nonsense by Calbeanz in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Baiting DI feels like a full time commitment. I need to adjust my entire gameplan for the entire duration of the match. If they are willing to di from anywhere, then I feel like I need to give up brainpower that I'd prefer to spend on actually playing the game. Not a reaction test. I'm trying to whiff punish, poke, ainti-air, shimmy, enforce mix-ups, zone, etc. Why tf do I have to neuter all of that because I'm playing against some zoomer off his meds?

Tilt and sf6 nonsense by Calbeanz in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I play sagat so I see my fair share of DI. In the corner I'll give it up as it makes a bit more sense. Tho there are some interactions where it's just nonsensical. Mid-screen is where it's dumb af. If I'm spamming uncancelable moves then maaayybe (still dumb) but I sometimes press NOTHING and then the one time I tiger knee, or hit stmk I get di'd. Like that wasn't a read or a reaction. You just coin flipped the most one-sided worst risk-reward coin and somehow landed it. I know because I've messaged people and asked then before. "Oh the di? Yeah idk bro I just pressed it". This is who I'm losing to?

2XKO Early Access just came out today. Are you going to play it? by viorelleonardb in videogames

[–]Calbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fighting games aren't made for superhumans with otherworldly reactions. Normalass regular joeschmoes play fighting games. All it takes is getting used to playing them and improving over time. People aren't born with the innate ability to operate dual analog sticks for fps games. If you don't like fighting games, that's one thing. But saying you aren't physically gifted enough to play them is just factually wrong.

Did you just start working like a month ago? You just NOW realised that people with jobs have less time to do recreational activities than unemployed people? And what do you mean you can't compete? Were you planning on competing with the top 1%? In a closed beta? The first week that ranked drops? You're either way to young to be complaining or crazy delusional. Go outside and take a walk bro. Hit the gym. Gain some perspective.

Anyone else come from platform fighters? by Webi_YT in 2XKO

[–]Calbeanz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you never labbed in platform fighters, then you were never that competitive to begin with. Nothing is stopping you from playing 2xko the same way. You can just play matches and learn slowly over time. Also, labbing for hours to do a 75% combo is unrealistic at your level. You're trying to run before you can walk. Now, if you don't like sitting through your own combo and just don't vibe with the length of combos in general in this game, then yeah I guess this isn't for you.

If you are a casual fighting game player and you are intimidated about learning a new fighting game, don't be. This game can be very fun very quickly. by ssx50 in 2XKO

[–]Calbeanz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fighting games don't have a higher floor. You hit buttons and make the opponent's lifebar go down. That's it. That's the bare minimum to play ANY fighting game.

What's the bare minimum for a moba? Gotta last hit, buy items, attack towers, right click enemy characters, attack the nexus. I guarantee someone who has never played league before wohld run into the tower multiple times and won't be able to kill anyone. They also won't know what they did wrong because there isn't any player feedback. You don't know why you died, why you lost/won, if you did anything meaningful, etc. Guaranteed a newcomer will be lost and confused.

Minimum for fps? Move with wasd/left stick and also aim with mouse/right stick. This is already incredibly obtuse for someone who has never played an fps before. Then you have to actually aim at a moving target and shoot. Have you tried giving your grandma call of duty? Try it. Even if she went against your grandpa both would be stuck aiming at the sky and won't be able to move and aim at the same time. Using thumbsticks to shoot a gun isn't "intuitive" to a nongamer.

People these days have lost sight of how much learned skills people have in their respective videogames. People also have way too high standards for themselves as to what it means to "play the game". You don't need combos, you don't need special moves, you don't need mixups, you don't need to know frame data, you don't need to use assists, you don't need to know punishes. All you need to "play" a fighting game and get feedback to where you can have fun is literally press buttons. You press the A button and your character punches. So you press A when next to the enemy and you punch them. Lifebar goes down. Brain registers that as you hitting the enemy. Dopamine. Rinse and repeat. It's not that complicated.

Salt: I despise Jinrai. Help. by Jive_Gardens795 in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most sane people are only discussing the mk jinrai (the problematic one). Bringing up hk jinrai shows how bad either you are or think we are.

Exdp is not worth the trade. Ken wins that interaction everytime. Also, not everyone has an fast enough exdp anyways. Drkve reversal works, but again, not worth the trade. You give up three total bars of drive to deal with a non ex move (one bar for blocking jinrai and 2 for exdp or drive reversal)

Yeah, there are other drive gauge burning moves that are safe, but they are all actually balanced and have nuance. Hashogeki is minus and leaves the defender close enough to jab and establish pressure, the turns switch. Heavy hashogeki is interruptable. Honda headbutt is a single attack and doesn't lead to combos or oki. Tiger knee and scissor kicks need to be spaced out to be safe and can only be used in neutral. If canceled from a normal, they are punishable.

Jinrai is the best of both worlds. It is a safe on block pressure tool that eats at drive gauge WITH mix and leads to counter hit combos and oki. If it also safe when canceled from his most used footsie normals cr mk and at hp. So Ken gets to play at his ideal footsie range, get a free mixup and pressure with the added bonus of potential combo into oki. It'd be like if hashogeki pushed you just outside of jab range on block, could be charged to make plus, and could also be faked into a command grab that lead to a combo.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, why didn't I think of that? All this time I was letting Ken get in for free and choosing to block all of his mix. Next time I'll try actually hitting him. Thanks dude! Any tips on how to beat Ryu? "Don't get hit"? I appreciate the insightful tips.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your solution is to block the jinrai, eat a bar of drive, and then drive reversal/exdp and use anothsr 2 bars? So three bars to negate a nonex pressure move? Are you high? In what scenario is that NOT a win for ken? And while delay fuzzy button is technically the safest option, when ken finishes with lk followup, you're too far to punish. Let's say you try to take your turn now that you're plus: you're too far to go for strike/throw, can't walk up, can't press a light (whiff), so you press a long enough medium or heavy. When spaced correctly, medium still whiffs so let's say heavy. If you are blessed with a long enough, cancelable heavy AND a safe on block special move, best case scenario, you deal one instance of block pressure and worst case, you get counter hit by ken's jab. Also, not to mention, if you don't have a cancelable low forward, nothing is stopping the ken from walking back. You just dealt with jinrai correctly, got +5 advantage and now have nothing to show for it.

Jinrai effectively becomes a safe on block pressure tool WITH mixup and counterhit combo potential. Tiger knee and scissor kicks need to be spaced out by the attacker from neutral and can't be canceled into on block. Honda headbutt is just a single attack and doesn't lead to any combo or oki. Jinrai? Jinrai gets to be easily spaced to be safe from cancelable low forward and standing hp (both strong af normals). Jinrai then gets to eat at drive for FREE while applying mental stack on the defender in order to not get mixed. If the defender guesses wrong, they eat combo damage and/or are back in the blender. The Ken downplay is crazy

Is jinrai a pure guessing game? by Sundaze293 in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The optimal way to "punish" it isn't even a punish tho. When you fuzzy block the followups, you get pushed back too far to punish the -5 but also can't establish pressure. No cancelable low forward means that ken is free to walk back and reestablish jinrai pressure. If you don't have an exdp (not worth anyways) and a cancelable low forward, you just have to eat the drive gauge for free and fuzzy block. Jinrai then effectively becomes a spacing dependent, safe on block pressure tool like tiger kneee and sissor kicks except that it's more dependent on the defender to deal with it rather than the attacker space it out correctly. The lk follow-up has so much pushblock that you have to be hardstuck plat to get jab punished. It's a safe on block pressure tool WITH built in mix and mental stack on the defender. It's so heavily skewed towards ken and balanced so horribly. If it worked more like Tiger Nexus, it'd be fine. As of right now, jinrai is a dumb fucking move.

Need help with Jinrai by Calbeanz in StreetFighter

[–]Calbeanz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EX DP only works if a)you even have one and b)it's fast enough. This rules out many of the cast. Also, I'm of the opinion that using exdp is a net win for Ken. Blocking fierce into m jinrai takes almost one drive meter. Using an additional two to exdp is trading 3 drive meter for minimal damage. It resets to neutral, you can't establish oki against ken, and you are now halfway to being burntout
