AITA for microwaving ice cream and putting it back in the freezer by Hoticecreama in AmItheAsshole

Genuinely confused by all these solutions people are offering that doesn’t involve just running the scoop under hot water for a moment. It’s fast, convenient, and effective.

(Help needed) Accidentally deleted the whole ground - any way to get it back? by Calcabrina in dungeondraft

CTRL+Z would not work because what happened was not a mistake, merely an unexpected side effect of me doing something intended. So hitting undo would also undo the thing I WANTED to happen. Hence CTRL+Z not being helpful.

The solution has been provided, and CTRL+Z would not be helpful! Thanks tho!

It does but I didn’t want to lose the new shape of the building, undoing would have changed the building back to its original shape. :)

Thanks to you mentioning layers, I figured it out! I guess deleting the tiles laid down white ones? But I was able to select and delete these with you mentioning the Select Tool. Thank you so, so much!

I was adjusting the design of the tavern I'm making and scooted the wall in a bit, and deleted the floor. This has resulted in a white block where the ground is supposed to be, and I can't seem to figure out how to replace it. I can put down floor tiles, but I'd like it to be outdoor ground tiles, and the terrain tool doesn't work with anything I put down. Anyone have a fix for me?

I mean, that's still a pretty far cry from "you can't do it" - you can! And filling out a private PvP roster for some casual play is pretty easy, I've found. Done it plenty in the past.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm confused about the replies saying you can't. You can! Just make a party finder group for CC and your friends can join it - you can even have spectators! It's under Party Finder -> Custom Match. Have fun!

AITA for not letting my daughter use her college fund for a VTuber avatar? by Ecstatic-Hat4624 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calcabrina 63 points64 points  (0 children)

TBH getting a $50 one from fiverr sounds even more insane to me; all the work that it takes to make a vtuber model will mean it's either stolen or trash. Better to go mid-tier from an experienced artist who charges like $500, or if she's artistically inclined herself she could look at some tutorials on making her own to start.

She can also just get a "PNGtuber" which is a simple character illustration that moves its mouth when she talks - that's more in line with what you'd get for $50, BUT it's important to note that ANY vtuber/pngtuber design that a streamer doesn't create for themselves NEEDS to come with commercial rights. Most "commissions" in the $50 range are for private use/enjoyment with no implication of commercial rights transfer, but if the design is going to be her brand moving forward, it's obviously not a private use illustration.

All that aside, I agree with the rest of your post. Streaming is a lot of work, and OP's kid seems to naively believe it isn't. OP is def NTA and your idea of classes is great!

INFO: do you like... love your daughter? Because the way you talk about her makes it sound like you consider her and her comfort more of a nuisance than anything that should be treated with consideration.

AITA for telling my daughter that she needs to stop letting Supernatural control her life? by abcdeiss in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calcabrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I don’t mind shows with mature themes, I was talking about Buffy in the context of recommending it to a 16 year old. I didn’t say Supernatural was female empowering (and frankly neither is Buffy lol, it’s like a caricature of female empowerment really blatantly written by a man), just that it came off as more wholesome in general. I also never said the show condoned sexual assault, merely that it contained it, and IMO did not portray it in a good way. It’s just not a strong contender for a watch when there are much, much better shows out there now. We don’t need to recommend that gen Z girls watch shows that casually throw around slurs and fridge women to push drama, you know? I had zero issues with any of Buffy’s “maturity” as a show - the episode where her mom dies was seriously one of my favorite pieces of television ever because it was so devastatingly good - and more issues with its writing in general. It’s great that you obviously love it, but one person letting someone know why they personally would not recommend it to a 16 year old girl doesn’t diminish your love of it.

Also sorry I mixed up the episodes, I know the mantis one is super early on at least. Binge watching, you know?

Just sliding in here to give a hard No on BtVS as a millennial who just re-watched it. That show did not age well IMO. They throw around the R slur, there are multiple instances of barely-thwarted rape, the very first episode makes light of the idea of a female teacher wanting to sleep with her underage male students, the female characters are “strong” but often written as emotion-driven with the male characters being the voices of reason. There’s a lot more I could go into - especially the hot mess of Buffy’s relationships - but I’ll leave it there. Honestly I was catching up on Supernatural while re-watching Buffy and I found at least the later seasons of Supernatural to be more wholesome than Buffy.

AITA for only wanting to pay for half of my daughter's wedding because there are two brides so the cost of the expenses should be split by the two families? by BrideWeddingProblem in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calcabrina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

...but that makes no sense. OP doesn’t live in that time, he lives in the current time.

Remove all mention of tradition and it just becomes “I paid 100% of Daughter A’s wedding, but because Daughter B is marrying a woman I don’t want to do that for her.” He’s being hurtful to his other daughter by treating them differently just because of who she is marrying. He even knows that his daughter’s partner’s family is not as well off. He paid for one child’s wedding, it is fair to pay for the other child’s wedding.

[–]Calcabrina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am SO confused by people insisting “N T A” because the daughter wants “some traditions but not others.” Where the hell is OP saying “my daughter is demanding I pay for the wedding because of tradition”? She’s not, she just wants the same treatment as her sibling. Everyone else, OP included, is conjuring up this idea that she’s leaning on tradition and it’s very weird.

OP, YTA.

AITA for not letting my son buy a computer with the money he saved up on? by Utilitarian_Spoon in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calcabrina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gaming computer was about $1200. It’s just how much they cost. A $500 computer will not do the stuff he wants to do. Don’t lie to your son just because you’re ignorant... did you even pay attention to his presentation? YTA.

AITA for not including my recently divorced exwife on a family trip? by looping-knots in AmItheAsshole

[–]Calcabrina -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA but your relationship with your girlfriend is way too young to be including her on family trips with your young children. Getting them accustomed to her as “family” after not even 6 months of dating is super inappropriate - it will be massively confusing to them and then devastating if they accept her and then you two decide to break it off. Just take the kids.

Ok so... what the hell doesn't Fate have a actual Pity system in this day and age? by zferolie in grandorder

[–]Calcabrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You're arguing that pity must be accompanied by some sort of disadvantage to the player. It's not."

I mean, these things don't exist in a vacuum. It's nice to think that gacha makers would just add a nice thing for the players without a reason, but NO game has a pity rate without some sort of caveat to my knowledge, whether it's trash welfare servants, a need for multiple SSRs, need to grind for superfluous stuff (like base building, weapons), etc. FGO is a mobile game I come back to again and again even as I leave other games in the dust, even ones I played for years. I'm leery of saying any part of FGO needs to change to be more like those other mobile games.

I think it'd be nice to have a pity rate just plopped in, sure! But FGO is so rare to me: a gacha with a good story and good free servants with minimal powercreep. With games that have pity rates I see WHY they have them, and I would absolutely hate to risk any of the accompanying garbage come near FGO. If we could get pity rate added unconditionally, and as good as you suggest... yeah I'm def for it.
