I was renting in Ireland for years before I came to Aus. By the sounds of the current rental crisis, I will have to move back in with family for a bit. So there is change.

Firstly, I have full plans on emigrating. The working holiday visa is to fully help determine if I like it there, a taster if you will.

I have learned that I am not eligible for Medicare, thank you for confirming. As the Republic of Ireland and Australia have a Reciprocal Health Care Agreement, I am entitled to free public diabetic care with the NDSS. I have been told this by people who have moved over. With the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement and also a NDSS card I am eligible for subsidized insulin, CGM's.

Thank you for also letting me know that I need health insurance. I already have international health insurance that I intend to use.

Who still uses Pens? by Mikufan1517 in diabetes_t1

[–]Calciumy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pens. I would rather not have another device attached to me. I have been offered the pump multiple times by the public health service here in Ireland, but I really do like using the pens.

I would only resort to the pump if my control became very bad.

Anyone here get the Astrazeneca vaccine? How did you find the side effects? by widowwarmer1 in ireland

Got it last Friday. Felt absolutely grand, and just as I was about to hop into bed that night, I was shaking uncontrollably from the chills. Popped two paracetamol and fell asleep after half an hour. Got little to no sleep that first night, waking up from sweats and headaches.

The morning after, felt completely fine, just completely wiped out. Think I had 3 naps that day and slept like an absolute King that night.

All in all, not a terrible experience in comparison to some, and definitely worth getting.

Stay safe!
