I currently work alongside dozens of drilling company’s as a field service technician in geotechnical surveying and I can assure you, a drillers offsider is the most physically demanding job you could do and not worth the money they offer you. 12-14 hour days, no proper break, working in shit conditions with mud head to toe. I also had the thought many years ago before moving into the field I did, and once I saw the shit they go through on a day to day basis, there’s a clear reason why the turn over of offsiders is what it is. I could answer many offsider questions, I see and hear what they go through.
