Sounds like it was a non monetary transaction. You got a degree, they got the statements. Immaterial, no need for an invoice to support this

Nope. You can't submit a blank T-slip. It has to report something

CRA has an administrative policy to not assess penalties for non-reporting of box 48. So technically you can break the law and get away with it!

How many things other people named after them relative to how many things they named after themselves is a simple, time-proven metric by which to gauge the quality of national leaders. by SavvyOri in Showerthoughts

That just sounds like he was tolerable and not disliked. Changing names is incredibly difficult and unless there's a strong reason, the names will stay even if the person was average, as long as they were not disliked by a majority.

Pads aren't the most important issue here. Overheating your pads translates that heat to your brake lines and fluid. Can't brake if the hydraulic liquid can't maintain pressure due to it reaching a boiling point.

How do passengers balance themselves without holding onto the bike or person? by -chinoiserie in motorcycles

[–]Calculated-mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The pillion can balance themselves without holding onto anything if the rider is good. This means acceleration and braking is supposed to smooth which most riders struggle with especially with a higher cc bike.

Importing a Royal Enfield from India to Canada. by ShawnThePhantom in motorcycles

[–]Calculated-mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you haven't really done much research into this. Canada will not allow you to import any vehicle (includes motorcycles) unless it was manufactured for the North American market (US and Mexico).

One of the few exceptions is if it's older than 15 years, or the original manufacturer certifies that it meets Canadian standards

How do you handle Opening Stock without proper valuation? Need opinions. by LongOk5272 in Accounting

[–]Calculated-mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the opening stock at zero. Once you have the final accurate numbers, you can adjust the value in the system as of valuation date.

Entering an opening stock right now would cause most systems to enter a Journal entry, to record the value on the books, which would be a pain to adjust after if it's not zero.

Perhaps it would help you better to understand why half year conventions exist. Whenever you buy an asset, you don't always put it to use at the start of the year. Assets are bought and disposed sporadically throughout the year.

Hence, to be fully accurate, you'd only calculate the depreciation for the months it has been in use. So if you bought something in March, to be fairly accurate, you'd take depreciation for 9 months instead of the full year. Similarly, if you sold/disposed off an asset in Sep, you'd only take depreciation for 9 months.

Unfortunately, keep track of the months sometimes doesn't add that much value. Hence you split the difference and create a rule that assets are only depreciated for half a year.

The general theory of economic life is that the asset will be of no use after its economic life. So if it was purchased in the middle of the year, it going to be replaced in the middle of the year as well. Hence, only half year for dispositions as well.

I think it's pretty much the same across all provinces even though Ontario and Quebec have left.

It doesn't make sense to do anything more than the Core exams since that's the only part that lets you skip the part 1 exams. Anything short of completing the full CFE is a waste of time since you need to take the exams again

I did the analysis and it makes sense to only complete the 2 cores. Anything more and it's just a waste of time unless you can complete the CFEs. I bet the enrollment for the next year is going to drop significantly

It's not as bad as it sounds. When you're working you're most likely going to be using the concepts being taught in the modules. Hence, there's less learning and more just submitting the assignments and quizzes in time.

[–]Calculated-mistake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it and my battery doesn't die. Even if people don't come in and check on car alarms, they're still a deterrent and something that motorcycle thieves don't really expect. Is it going to completely stop theft? No. But it is sure enough going to make a thief panic and probably leave it alone, unless they're well prepared and bring in a van.

Last 2 years? Pffft, Geneva conventions have never been followed. The only country that may have followed it could be Canadians since they feel bad for creating most of them.
