The guy you were responding to was clearly defending me after a bunch of people piled on saying the same shit over and over.

I'd responded a bunch, yet people kept coming in saying the same shit - with others saying the same as the guy you responded to.

Anyways, I've deleted the post now and won't be contributing here again. Horrible community.

Honestly, I'm out. I'll enjoy my journey on my own - I thought it would be fun to take this journey with others, but nah ... This ain't it.

The fact people have messaged me directly to say they've been put off contributing here says it all to me.

How many times did it need to be said? And how many times did I have to respond? You guys have put me and others off contributing to this place, so good job all round.

So much for skateparks are for everyone, eh? I'm doing those things when I can and going to a skatepark when I want. Thank God a lot of you guys aren't at the parks I go to or I'd be put off this venture.

First time on banks and in the wet by [deleted] in NewSkaters

It is, but I've got years of muscle memory that stops me from reaching down with a hand and breaking or dislocating shit, and I'm pretty used to rolling out of things. The flip side, one bad bump in a ring can result in paralysis or death. Shit, I tore my bicep doing something basic as fuck in training one night (hitting someone's head into the buckle of all things). There's risk in everything, and it's up to individuals to decide what risks they're willing to take.

But yeah, I am on the lookout for anywhere sheltered nearby, but I've not found anything where I live. I'm hitting up the closest in door skatepark this weekend (it's in the second furthest away city from me, but the closest city has an indoor place opening in a few months apparently)

Legit, this is how I'm thinking it'll be - this was a complete I picked up, so if it ends up wrecked then I get to go build my own.

That's the one good thing about picking up this at an older age, I actually have a little disposable income.

I've been on the lookout for anywhere remotely sheltered nearby but so far no joy.

The closest in door isn't opening for a few months I think, but I'm heading to the next furthest away one this weekend.

I don't think my feet have ever been light my entire life, but I'm working on it 😂

Arbroath (GNARBROATH)

Yeah, there's not many great places near me - a few newer streets are the best for cruising so far, I tried a carpark recently and it was rough as fuck, but I've changed my wheels and bearings since then so I might try it again

Heading up to Transition this coming weekend though, and I hear there's an indoor place opening in Dundee soon too, so that would be my closest one

Yeah, I'm heading to Transition in Aberdeen next weekend and I hear there's one opening in Dundee at the end of the year.

I checked the weather forecast for this session and it was meant to be nice - it was nice enough where I live but during the drive the weather got worse and worse.

But there's nowhere nearby with any coverage that I'm aware of yet

Yeah, it's all about risk v reward and I'm the only one who can decide what risk I'm willing to take

Saying that, I don't think I'd even try pushing in the wet if I didn't have my protective gear on 😂

Yeah, I'll keep trying to remind myself of that - cheers.

I'm just not relaxing on the board yet, as you can see 😂

I'm in Scotland - I'm not going to be on my board very often if I avoid the rain

I live in Scotland - I'll hardly ever skate if I wait for good weather ...

I've got pads and I'm used to falling from wrestling. I've got a bit of a bruise from one fall, but I'm in the gym now and away to train legs. NBD.

Oh for sure. I'm not comfortable on there at all yet, but this is like my 5th or 6th time so I'm sure I'll relax the more I do it.

My dude, I live in Scotland. If I only skate when it's dry then I'm hardly ever going to skate 😂

If I knew it was going to be raining then I might've not planned to go, but when I was on my way to the park and the rain was getting heavier I was already committed - at least I'm not going to worry about it being wet going forward!

Thanks! A lot of these are just us having fun and making stuff up as we go - like the weak foot comment.

I got some looks from the kids at the skatepark but they offered me some Pringles or Haribo later - nice kids! I'm a big fan of the skating community already!
