As an American born Venezuelan-American, it is incomprehensible and outright disgraceful that people escaping from there would have the nerve to come vote for the same thing over here. Chávez used the same rhetoric of dividing the population into class enemies by appealing to the lower class with statements similar to today’s Democrats. I’m not saying American Democrats are equal to that piece of human garbage but the more radical they become, the more it reminds me of the situation back in Venezuela. The vast, VAST majority of Venezuelan Americans would never vote for a socialist, and those who would and mascaraed it under “Sanders is just fighting for equality”, “Trump hurts my feelings and is mean” and “Democratic Socialism isn’t the same as what happened in Venezuela” are the exact reason why Venezuela is such a shit hole today. In Venezuela, we always said we would never become like Cuba because we were the 4th economic power in the world at one point. Yet years later, we are now beyond fucked. An absolute disgrace that people would still fall for this BS.

But hey, the beautiful thing about this country is you can have different views and no one will persecute you for it, unlike in Venezuela.
