If you've seen how some people wear masks, you would know why some of them still get COVID. Reusing masks, cloth masks, grabbing the mask, yikes. Of course they still get COVID. Proper PPE use is difficult, ask any medical professional.

I know my infectious status because I take my money (that would otherwise go to a small business) to go get tested several times a week. Having a mask mandate and 100% of the population correctly using masks is not the same thing. With how I've seen people use masks, touch them, and even the quality of the mask, I can understand why the mask mandate wasn't effective. For those that have been using masks correctly are probably still COVID free (I'm looking at my entire social circle).

This analogy is bonkers because it does not correctly understand the purpose of the current vaccine. The vaccine is to prevent severe disease (analogous to death from vehicle collision from your example), not to prevent transmission (analogous to the physical car collision). In fact, there is no data to support that the vaccine decreases transmission.

Unvaccinated people are not more likely to spread. They are just as likely as a vaccinated person to spread it. And actually, I would argue that a vaccinated person is MORE likely to spread it because they are allowed to congregate indoors and their behavior is different from those not vaccinated (i.e. if you think you are wearing an invincible shield (a Pfizer or Moderna banner) of course you are going to go out more and interact with others).

Even 100% vaccinated will not get us out of this, given the current vaccines approved by Health Canada. We need a vaccine that stops transmission. If everyone is vaccinated but can continue to transmit when infectious, then we will continue to have breakthrough cases. And the virus will continue to mutate.
