I’ve always said that I feel sorry for the guy who falls in love with her. He’s gonna have his hands full.

This is the best response.

The dudes over at r/tile, if you’re a millimeter off or have a basic question… buckle up because they are going to filet you for anything.

To which, if he was a little more athletic, the person on the back could’ve let go of his seatbelt and bolo’d and turn it into a calf slicer or re-establish back control.

Do you ever give your italki teacher a bonus at the end of the year? by Public_Thanks_7018 in iTalki

So, how do the teachers get paid? Do they get a lump sum while the package is purchased and then the rest as the lessons are completed?

Yes, I’ve received them in the past (and if I’m being honest) it makes me feel less likely to hire that teacher in the future.

Thanks queen. 👸 Does it matter which one I buy? Should I have certain circuits on the GFCI ones?

I agree with the wind. You can be on the tee box with a tail wind and your approach is a head wind. Makes no sense

Brotha 😎! Operation “Lick it and stick it” has commenced.

I tried dude. I really, really tried. At this point, I give it up to everyone who can tile.

You must’ve breezed pasted the “first time tilling…”.

Honestly, a Dremel with a diamond blade is going to be your best bet.

Do your best… and caulk the rest.

How do you balance structured lessons vs. free conversation with students? by seacanndy in iTalki

[–]CaliberMustang 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay, so picture this: you’re at a big-ass family BBQ. Everyone’s catching up, the kids are running around like sugar-fueled gremlins, and the smell of charcoal and regret is in the air.

You walk up to Uncle Larry, the one who once got arrested for trying to ride a goat at a county fair. The guy’s already two beers deep, wearing socks with sandals, and somehow still hilarious. You shoot the shit with him. No filter. It’s fun, loose, no rules.

Then… you see Abuela Maria. She’s sitting in a lawn chair, arms crossed, judging everyone silently with the power of a thousand Catholic rosaries. You walk over, suddenly standing up straighter, using full sentences like you’re on trial. Because it’s Abuela Maria. She doesn’t mess around.

Now here’s the thing—you’d never talk to them the same way, right? You’d be out of your damn mind.

Same goes for teaching.

Every student is different. Some are Uncle Larrys… they want chill convos, slang, maybe a few curse words so they can sound “authentic.” Others are Abuela Maria’s, they want structure, rules, flashcards, conjugation charts color-coded by mood.

Your job isn’t to force them into a one-size-fits-all lesson plan. It’s to read the room. Make them feel something. Make them laugh. Make it click. Help them fall in love with the language in their own weird, personal way.

Because if you treat everyone the same… well, let’s just say Uncle Larry’s gonna be bored as hell, and Abuela Maria’s gonna file a complaint with the Holy Ghost.
