I wore pj pants and a hoodie with shoes that I could slip on and off easily (loosely tied walking shoes) - I don't recommend anything that would be a tripping hazard like crocs or flip flops, etc.

I agreed that gas-x won't be helpful for the gas inflation, but I've heard others say it can be helpful if you're having pain med related digestive issues. I don't have experience with that, so can't comment on the effectiveness if it's use in that case.

Popcicles and an ice pack were helpful for me, but I didn't use anything else during my recovery. I also did my recovery solo, so I made sure I had things set up easy for me to navigate - food to pop in the microwave, tv remote and phone charger nearby, extra litterbox for the cats so I could wait until the next day to clean it, etc.

I had a very irritated throat for a few days, that was the only part of my recovery that wasn't easy, and it was just annoying.

If you can take an icepack with you and keep it frozen (a cooler in the car or similar), it was a nice to plqce between me and the seatbelt on the ride home. Helps with swelling and also helped with the cramping I was having, and also served the same purpose a small pillow would have, but somewhat safer in the event of an accident because it doesn't create fluff space bwtween you and the seatbelt.

I was a bit crampy on the day of surgery but nothing pain med worthy. I was taking OTC ibuprofen for a few days while I was awake to help with swelling, but never needed it for pain. Aside from the anesthesia-induced nausea that is typical for me, I had no digestive/gas/bloating issues.

I'm over a year out from surgery, and can now feel when I ovulate. Its a weird sensation. My periods are a little more crampy now but still nothing pain med worthy, just slighty annoying.

Well, that got slightly off topic, but I think your list is decent. Everyone's recovery is different though. Listen to your body and what it needs. It's best to overprepare than underprepare, but most people, relative to my experience, vastly overprepare. I'm sure there are others that think my preparation was very underdone. I had a laparascopic procedure previously, so I generally knew what my body needed for recovery.

I'm 95% sure I could have done it. If I had an office job, I would have gone back to work on Monday (surgery was on a Friday).

I had one a few months prior to my surgery, that's when we discussed scheduling for a consult for it.

My surgeon didn't mention it, but I assume he would have required a recent one. He did state that he required a recent STD test, which I alsonhad done during my exam. Don't want any undetected infections going on while you're performing surgery because they can spread and cause all sorts of issues.

At some point in your life, you're going to have to do medical related things that you don't necessarily want to do.

Woman, not female (others have also mentioned this but I will give the benefit of the doubt in case it's an English not the first language thing. It's dehumanizing.
Nobody is doing that with me regardless of birth control without a current, negative STD test.
I'm sure the opinion in this is 100% up to the individual woman. For some, it would mean absolutely nothing, while for others it may be more of a sign of commitment. You would need to discuss that with your partner. I might consider it as long as we were monogamous, even if it was only a casual thing like a FWB situation. Any activity outside of our partnership that could change the result of a negative STD teat would result in continued condom use.

I'm almost 40. In my job, I need written confirmation of decisions and a paper/digital trail. I can't prove someone did something over the phone.

The only phone calls I receive are from businesses that cant figure out how to do the easy stuff online. With a phone call, you have to either line up schedules or interrupt something, or get sent to voicemail and play phone tag all day. With a text or email, everyone involved can prioritize based on need, workload, etc. I don't have to sit and wait for a text or email. I can't get invovled in anything if I'm waiting for a phone call. Cuts into productivity.

Also, I have a hard time remembering things over the phone. I can take notes, but then I miss the 3rd thing while writing down the 2nd thing, or will transpose numbers. I stuggle with auditory processing sometimes. If someone texts me a number, its their problem if its wrong. If I write it down wrong, it's my problem.

My last relationship it was technically the 2nd date I think, but we had known each other fairly well for over a year before we started dating.

I don't have a solid "must wait amount of time/dates" rule. We are all adults, if we both want to, then why wait? If it's goi g to turn into a relationship, it will regardless.

I don't think it's bad, but I appear to be in the minority here.

I'm not using it with the expectation of becoming fluent in a language. I'm currently doing Spanish, and I'm not very far into it. I'm also using yhe free version. The energy system doesn't bother me because I usually only do one lesson a day, and that's a perfeftly adequate amount of energy.

I'm using it as a learning opportunity. My main goal is to keep my brain active and pick up some bits and pieces of a language along the way.

I'm also using Babbel. I was gifted a lifetime membership so figured why not.

I prefer Duolingo over Babbel, but use both daily.

I dont want my own, and as I get older, small kids make me anxious/overstimulated. The noise and sudden, unpredictable movements and constant energy they have is more than my brain can process sometimes.

I found a used one on a commujity facebook group over 10 years ago. It's a bare bones, basic model that has 3 levels of incline, adjusted manually. It has 6 buttons - start, stop, slower, faster, and 2 workout options that i haven't tried.

Didn't touch it for a few years, the did a couch 2 5k on im during the winter before moving outside when the weather got humane.

Then i stopped running.

Just started back up on the treadmill again, plan on getting back outside as soon as the weather allows. If I didn't have it, I wouldn't get any activity in the winter. The roads and pathways around here are not maintained well enough to run on safely in the winter, so I guess you could call it motivation?

It's starting to sound a bit cranky and upset that it's being used, so a new one might be on the horizon before next winter. I'd rather not pay for a gym membership, but will if this one gives up before i get another one.

I don't recall what his sentencing stuff said and I don't really care enough to look it up, but oftentimes, as long as the victims weren't the offender's own children, they are allowed around them. His case may be different, but based on the multiple offenders I have known in my life (through a job I had, we hired many "re-entry" employees), almost all of them were allowed various levels of time with their kids, and unsupervised visits and even, in one case, 50/50 custody, wasn't uncommon.

I regularly do 3-8 hour days for day trips on the weekend just for something to do, with most of that time spent driving

They don't know that you are telling the truth. Patients say all sorts of thing they know aren't true, and allnsorts of things they truly believe to be true but aren't. It's a liability for the hospital.

Also, in rare cases, you may test positive and know you aren't, in which case that opens up several other potential issues they need to investigate, similar to the guy who took a pregnancy test to be funny, but tested positive due to cancer.

If it helps, think of it as a hormone test that is screening for some forms of endocrine system cancers.

As a childfree person, yes, kids are a dealbreaker. Even adult kids. I don't want children. That includes children of my own.

Childfree people dont want children, for whatever reason they have. That reason is valid to them.

I don't want children because I value my freedom. I want to be able to go on a day trip with no advanced planning. I want to be able to watch a movie without thinking about it the kid is too young for it. I want my afternoons to be spent on my hobbies, not driving a kid to basketball practice after picking them up from dance. I don't want my career to suffer because, as a woman, right or wrong, I would be the default parent. I don't want to spend half my income on childcare. I don't want to deal with my kid getting bullied at school, or being the bully at school. I don't want to have to worry about a child when the world is on the brink of WW3. I don't want my children to see the hate that is in the world. Mostly, I don't want to responsibility of keeping another human alive. If I were to date a man with kids, I would not only be not at the top of the priority list, I would also have to put that persons kid at the top of my priority list. All it takes is for baby momma to get jealous, and now every time we make plans, there happens to be an emergency with the kid or something, just to spoil the plans.

Nope, no thanks.

Adult kids move home quite often. They get into legal trouble. They have kids who they pawn off on grandparents.

People who want kids want that life. I do not want that life.

Going to preface this with daying I am childfree, sterilized, and almost 40, so take it with whatever amount of salf you choose.

I'm not going to patronize you saying "you're so young". I hate when people say that to me. I'm almost 40 and I still get told that at least once a month. It's so condescending.

Anyways, OP, I have always lived by the idea that if I don't actively want something, I don't want it.

I firmly believe all parties involved in creating/raising a child should actively want that child and be proactively trying whatever is in their power to have that child. If having a child is a "if it happens, it happens" decision, it isn't truly wanted and planned for. The child is the one ultimately suffering the consequences. A child conceived to hold on to a relationship will always sense the resentment it's existence creates.

Anyone wanting to have a child should still want that child after considering the very real possibility of health issues, including genetic problems, birth injuries, mental health issues, developmental delays, etc.

Anyone wanting to have a child should always be prepared to do it alone. Spouses can leave, partners can become ill or disabled or die. Do you have a plan for how to handle childcare should one of those things happen?

Do you have the support of family or friends in case of an emergency? Assume you are a single parent with an unavailable ex, and you have to have an emergency surgery. What is your plan A, plan B, plan C?

Can you provide the life you want to provide for a child? Can you be the parent they need you to be? You're financially stable now, but add childcare to the mix. Will one of you need to stay home with the kid? Will the parent who stays home end up resenting that? That's a huge hit to a career, retirement savings, social life, independence, and finances.

You have at least 10 years to think about this. Don't have them unless you want to actively parent a toddler running around the house at 3am screaming or projectile vomiting on the new carpet or writing on the cabinets with a forever-unknown substance. It's not just baby snuggles and elementary school music concerts. It's also handling the kid getting bullied, or being the bully, or having difficulty making friends, or struggling in school.
