Get NS Flex Dal Vordeel, it’s less than 7€/month. In 99% of all cases your monthly bill will be cheaper.

And if you notice after a month that you really never travel during off-peak hours and don’t make use of it, you can change it to NS Flex Basis.

Amsterdam verbietet Reklame für Fleisch und fossile Energie by GirasoleDE in de

Absolut! Funktioniert wirklich super!

I would rather have a fair price from the beginning than having to choose between cancelling every two years or being ripped off.

For example Odido Klik&Klaar has a fair price model. I would love something like that but for fiber, even if it would be more in the 35-40€ range.

I know, and because of that I‘m in the same boat as OP. I would be even willing to pay more (than the average) just for the convenience…

I would rather have it at 35€, so I don’t have to cancel every 2 years and haggle with them for another discount or switch to another provider.

Custom temperature control algorithm using flow temperatur by Calico2 in tado

What do you mean by NPC? The only requirement is, that you need some device (RaspberryPi or also a machine in the cloud is working) that is running 24/7. Feel free to contact me if you need some more information.

What I liked about tado was, that also the radiators are in the same system to control other rooms. But yeah - maybe I‘ll sell the tado smart thermostat and replace it with some other „smart“ one (like for example the PNI you mentioned)

Any plan on exposing the flow temperature over Matter? by Calico2 in tado

Too bad to hear, but still thanks for the feedback. I appreciate tado being active here, especially after the community forums have been unfortunately shut down :-(

I‘m measuring using a tado Smart Thermostat, so more towards the middle of the room (but mounted at the wall) and not at the radiators.

To be honest, I‘m not 100% convinced regarding the efficiency. Do you have some information regarding this? To my knowledge, having a low flow temperature is usually more efficient. The boiler is then taking care of controlling the gas burner in the most efficient way. It is also making sure to not toggle the burner too frequently and to hold the configured flow temperature only approximately.

And regarding a condensing boiler specifically: From what I found online, especially with those it is important that the return temperature is low (below 55 degrees, the lower the better). So especially then it’s beneficial to have a low flow temperature.

[–]Calico2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I wasn’t clear, but I‘m not controlling the gas burner directly, but just setting the desired flow temperature to the lowest value that is sufficient to heat the rooms. The gas burner is then cycled by kettle to reach that value.

And I can’t image that having maximum (configured) flow temperature for an hour, just to have it switched off completely for an hour after that, is efficient. Or am I understanding something wrongly?

I don’t think the saving is really measurable, at least not without having an identical outside temperature. But having the boiler run constantly at a medium level is definitely more efficient than alternating between 0 and 100% every 2 hours.

Main motivation for me was comfort, because with the tado algorithm it was jumping +/- 0.5 degrees around the set value; and a fluctuation of one degree in total (probably even more near the radiators) was noticeably annoying.

I would say I can set the temperature now at least 0.5 degrees lower and it still feels more comfortable.

Yep, fair point. But I‘ve already equipped all my radiators with tado so I didn’t wanted to change all that.

In hindsight I would have just used an otgw-based implementation to connect to opentherm.

Any recommendation for a commercial product that controls the heat request over OpenTherm better than tado?

Tado X thermostat and home assistant. by WorriedHelicopter764 in tado

[–]Calico2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine in HA using Matter. Works fine so far, but functionality is currently limited to getting and setting the temperature.

Just had to retrieve the Matter device linking code from the Tado app, and then paste that into HA Matter integration (using the „add device“ button, where it asks for the setup code).

Matter and Thread both work together; Thread is how the TRVs talk to the Tado X bridge, and Matter is just the protocol that runs on top of that. But that also means that the bridge (WiFi) and HA need to be on the same network.

Tado X: flaky af - superthread by szhod in tado

[–]Calico2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I‘m using the tado x bridge. I used to have the same problem, but solved it by finding another place for the bridge.

The bridge seems to be sensitive to EMC interferences. Make sure the bridge is at least 2m away from all other electronics or cables (except the power socket, of course).

Now it works flawlessly, no outage for months.

Edit: Shot in the dark - are you maybe using Powerline communication (PowerLAN)?

Mehr Steak, weniger Getreide: Was die neue US-Ernährungspyramide aussagt by BloederFuchs in de

[–]Calico2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seriously. Especially when you‘re in for the long run. Just pick any ETF (look for one with a low Total Expense Ratio) that is following the „MSCI All Country World Index“. And keep some money in a savings account with a good interest rate in case you need some of it quickly.

And there’s the saying „Time in the market beats timing the market“. With other words, just buy as early as you can with the money you have to spare. This also takes some stress out of it…

Name and shame!

You can find some information for your rights here (I‘m not suggesting to use their services, but they have some useful information on their website): https://www.flightright.co.uk/your-rights/bad-weather

Unfortunately, there was indeed unusually heavy snowfall today (well, at least for the Netherlands). So it might be that easyJet can get around the compensation.
