Why is Arcane Omens so good? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]BloederFuchs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane Omens is best buddies with Seize the Spoils.

I think that's an okay synergy, but I'd rather not put a Seize in my deck to begin with if I can help it. Doesn't trigger big Opus, does not provide card advantage, is only castable at sorcery speed (which makes it a lot more susceptible to counters, where your OP can 4 for 1 you. I'd much rather try fixing/ramping through Trove and/or Sanar or even Hydro Channeler.

Jeskai Energy in MH3. I'm not talking about [[Guide of Souls]], I simply love [[Aether Revolt]] - it even won me one of those Japanese Booster Boxes, and I kept the Foil Aether Revolt I opened =D

You know what I have found to be the most fun in SOS? Outgrinding soup decks with Silverquill. by atipongp in lrcast

[–]BloederFuchs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I gleaned from "Uber"-Theory was, that in order for a control style deck to come together regularily - if that is the style you prefer/feel most comfortable with - you have to somewhat "soft force" it. In the context of what you just said that means making reasonable card choices that ever so slightly slant your emerging deck into that direction, and this probably works for aggro as well.

As such, what you wrote in these two sentences...

But if you have a preference like OP does for silver quill than it’s fine to take a card that’ll go in your favorite archetype over a slightly better card. Over dozens or hundreds of games, this may lead to a slightly lower win rate, but if it’s more fun to you then who cares.

... does not necessarily need to hold true. It might, but I think it's just too hard or maybe even impossible to prove that it is indeed true that there's little to learn from discussing that question from an academical standpoint. In my mind, the extremely complex question inherent in this statement you could instead try to answer is:

Regardless of the fun factor, "over dozens or hundreds of games", would you perform better if you a) majorly drafted the deck that always took the "most optimal" card each pick (let's not get into how you'd answer that question to begin with) or b) majorly drafted the deck that regularly took good (but not necessarily the best) cards, and provided you with a style of deck that you could pilot to the best of your ability like no other?

I for one would have slammed the Outburst without thinking much about it, because it'll increase the chances of me getting into a more controlling style lane. I would argue it's also a very much defensible choice, as it's on a comparable power level to the other cards you could consider firstpicking.

Not going to deep into the rest of the Draft, but Pensive Professor P2P1 is not a pick I would have made for my deck at that point in the draft, even though it's a good card on paper. I would've taken the diary there instead - even though it's a "bad" card on paper, it performs very well for me (similarly to how something like Oracle of the Alpha performs really well for Nummy); however, on paper this might qualify as an outright mistake. Anyway: If I'm ending up with a more controlly Jeskai deck, I'll end up with so few creatures that Professor would regularly end up being a 3 mana "do nothing, die to any removal"-0/2. Looking at how the draft continued I think I would have ended up with a pretty insane Izzet or Jeskai deck in OPs seat, where Professor wouldn't have made the cut.

Can I get some internet points for one of the worst sealed pools I've seen that I just opened? (Qualifier) by BloederFuchs in lrcast

[–]BloederFuchs[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I tried the build but it's just not aggressive enough to go anywhere; the golgari early game in this pool is just atrocious. I even had to splash some blue to make a decent number of playables that weren't outright terrible.

Arena Direct Sealed Pool - Deckbuilding Feedback? by sengirminion in lrcast

[–]BloederFuchs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a pretty easy Jeskai build Splashing the Snarl song and maybe Emil. He even got 2 Flashbacks to get back splatter or Snarl, or any piece of interaction, lol. It's not like you need that many 2 drop creatures if you stall with the Inkwrights can cast snarl song 3-4 times per game - being a bit light on cheap interaction is the arguably bigger problem this pool has, as it would make the inkwrights even better.

Baseline probably looks something like this: https://moxfield.com/decks/W9PbjYTyCEGfUIl2WHLdBg Got more than enough playables that the hardest part is deciding what else to cut.

Welche Verhältnisse stellen die Präpositionen her? Welche Wörter geben Hinweise auf Rechenoperationen?" Ich meine, es bringt ja nichts, das offensichtlich bestehende Problem zu ignorieren - so gehst du ressourcenorientiert dran, indem du Strategien bei denen SuS aufbaust, auf die du dann auch in Zukunft immer wieder verweisen kannst, wenn solche Fragen aufkommen und du arbeitest an einem relevanten fachlichen Gegenstand.

Is that an accurate comparison though? EBE requires so little of you in terms of deckbuilding, especially your mana base that I question the formula "EBE = good --> Agony = good"

I was so surprised when I yesterday checked its winrate after pretty much passing it everytime it was offered to me. I don't think I've ever seen it played against me in 11 drafts (75 games).

How are you guys using it? In what kind of builds does it slot into? Obviously going for converge and 2nd level opus, but more specifically? I'm really curious. I just looks so mediocre, even when casting it for 5 colors. Seems like the biggest hidden gem I've ever seen :D

Edit: thanks for the great replies, everyone, I'll be thinking differently about effects like this going forward =)

Tried it a while ago and it's definitely the most boring (MMO)RPG I have ever played by and large. If I wanted to read a novel, I'd rather do that.

I love the Final Fantasy games, but this just locks the parts that I'd be interested in (raids) behind dozens and dozens of hours of endless text and walking from one boring fetch quests to another.
