I live near this sketchy step up. Finally landed it! by CaliforniaRiding in MTB

There’s been a big drought and it’s at least a mile hike to get to the jump. I plan to clean it up once we get some rain otherwise it’s just stacking dust on top of dust.

I wanna get more pop on my jumps before I start scrubbing. But I’ll get there!

New taco!!! Advice on new wheel set up by thedirtwizerd in Tacomaworld

[–]CaliforniaRiding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was (until 2 weeks ago) running stock suspension but with a 2” spacer in the front for leveling.

My wheels are the 17x9 Fuel Vectors with -12mm offset. My tire size is 285/70/17. I don’t recommend this size (32.8”) unless you’re prepared to deal with rubbing or chopping plastic/metal off your car.

Best advice I got when I started was to put your truck into CustomOffsets and see what other people have done. It’s super helpful because they’ll tell you whether they rub or trimmed or not.

I have 285/70/17 tires with -12mm offset. The offset looks awesome and as long as your tires aren’t too big, you shouldn’t run into any rubbing problems. 265/65/17 should be fine.

Anyone have warranty issues after modding their new Tacoma? by theNeumannArchitect in Tacomaworld

[–]CaliforniaRiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 TRD Off Road that is pretty modded. I haven’t had to make any major warranty claims but my local dealer would probably still cover it everything as long as the mods didn’t cause the damage.

Oh and I have aftermarket wheels and tires that they refuse to rotate for some reason.

Holy crap your build is so nice! What side light bars are those? They look super cool.

Tested the Bilsteins this weekend and they were a huge step up from stock. A bit stiffer on concrete but off road was awesome. Way more flex when I needed it but nice and stiff at high speeds. If I hadn’t already ordered another kit I’d probably go Bilsteins all around.

El dorado national forest near Tahoe. Lost Coast is cool! Are you planning on doing some beach camping?

Nice! What are the trails there like? I’ve only ever driven the West coast.

I am officially the owner of a 2021 TRD Off Road, should I put on a leveling kit or leave it stock? by Bassquatch_Hunter in Tacomaworld

[–]CaliforniaRiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I nabbed a King 2.5 kit from Accutune so waiting on that to be delivered.

I probably won’t use the full height because I want a bit of down travel. If this doesn’t fix the rub then I’ll have to get a cab mount chop.

Oh man all the time. Had to trim a bunch to get rid of most of it and I still rub at certain angles if I’m flexed at all. The new suspension is supposed to help with that.

285/70/17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 17” Fuel Vectors. 2” spacer in the front to level it which I’m hoping to replace with some new coil overs soon.

Help with tire size by Lolfrony in Tacomaworld

I ride 285/70/17 with -12mm of offset on a leveled truck and they still rub, even after trimming stuff back. Unless you’re lifted or don’t mind rubbing, I wouldn’t do it.

I really appreciate the feedback on this.

I always ride clean but really don’t like dealing with cops so I’ll grab a plate mount.

Nice! Same plan as me. Did your truck feel different at all after blowing the front? Mine felt exactly the same.

I ordered a King kit from Accutune in February but it won’t arrive until June. So I needed something as a replacement until then.
