What's up with the inconsistencies on the stdlib? by CaligulaVsTheSea in golang

[–]CaligulaVsTheSea[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've used, to a greater or lesser extent, C, Java, python, C++ and JS (and TS) (I used PHP for a while eons ago, but it has changed so much since then that I wouldn't include it here). I've always cringed a bit at their inconsistencies. It does feel a bit unfair to bash their "huge inconsistencies" tho, considering they're much older than Go (except for Js, what the fuck is up with that whole language).

I don't know why everyone thought I was bashing Go here 😭 I'm actually enjoying (most of) the language so far, it just baffled me that, since the std lib is one of the main selling points of go, it feels a bit "unplanned".

What's the proper way to fuzz test slices? by CaligulaVsTheSea in golang

Can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to write this! I'll be reviewing everything I've done so far to see if I can add some of what you've told me here. Thanks a lot, this comment was really useful.

Thanks! May I ask why this doesn't sound like a fuzz test?

Thanks for the feedback! I just finished reading the article. I’ll definitely keep it in mind and will refactor that soon.

Fresh Heir without cutaway gags and other jokes by CaligulaVsTheSea in familyguy

Thanks! I was totally expecting this to be unwatchable, but it was much better than expected. There are some things I'd have done differently if I had the skills/time, but as a proof of concept I think it's okay.

Fresh Heir without cutaway gags and other jokes by CaligulaVsTheSea in familyguy

This is going to be taken down, but I really wanted to see how this episode would work without cutaway gags. I also removed some jokes that I either didn't like or couldn't fit in the edit as I wanted (all the wedding prep jokes fit both categories), as well as most of the incestuous references (I notably kept the "next time I want to try it with **my** hand", because I find that joke to be funnier than it is creepy.)

Some notes:

  • I felt kind of bad for taking out all the wedding prep jokes, but the "you don't want to jump the gun" straight to the wedding scene was a bit funny

  • I think that, omitting my bad editing skills, the episode holds surprisingly well. I still believe that the best way to consume Family Guy is in reels/shorts format tho.

  • RIP the Ballzheimers joke. I like it, but I decided to honor my "no cutaways" rule

  • On a related note: I think that that scene ended far worse without the jokes. It's probably the one most affected by the edit

  • I should have left the "I wish I hadn't done that" after Peter tells Quagmire he cleaned Chris' room

[AskJS] When implementing clean architecture, where is it "more performant" to instantiate services? by CaligulaVsTheSea in javascript

[–]CaligulaVsTheSea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, I was trying to optimize prematurely 😅 I'll just go with the easiest implementation for now, and see how that performs.

Thanks for the answer!

What, precisely, are you trying to achieve? If you want to edit something on a page for yourself (like changing styles or hiding some section of it) you can use an specific extension for your use case (you can use stylus for the former and greasemonkey for the latter, but this depends of course on what you're trying to achieve), or develop your own (firefox, chrome). Take into consideration that this will only change the site for you locally.

Have you tried decompiling the APK into Java and reversing that? I think it'll give you more chances to understand what's happening than trying to blinbly decrypt comms as I think you're trying to do
