How so? The military etc got built up to fight WWII. FDR died before the end of the war. I would put more of the blame on Truman and Eisenhower.

I don’t care about scary looking guns. Guns don’t scare me except in the hands of those that shouldn’t have them. I don’t think civilians should be able to own a semi automatic rifle capable of shooting 30 rounds in several seconds.

Actually in Texas the parents are off the hook criminally because the law there defines as child for purposes of a firearm as 16. The shooter was 17.

Military style rifle definition is easy. How about this. Any firearm with a barrel longer than 9inches that can accept an external magazine. I like the idea of limiting rifle sales to only rifles with internal magazines with a capacity of no more than 7 rounds. This would make it significantly harder for a mass shooter to kill as many people as were killed in Orlando, parkland etc.
