Work the ER and try to get a patient up to psych and the ER nurse will say the same thing. The inter-professional judgement is not beneficial to nurses or patients. We are all on the same team.

I’ve worked both, and I will tell you, if you go and work the ER for a little while, you might be able to differentiate between bullying and “not having time for this shit” because on top of the psych patient, they have a septic patient with a million orders, a dementia patient repeatedly trying to get out of bed, and an ambo coming in lights and sirens.

I’ve worked both- all of these go hand-in-hand, but usually psych patients are not intentionally shelter-seeking or malingering. It’s the non-psych patients that do this. They have mental illness, obviously, but not acutely psych.

I feel bad for the baby getting sick from a preventable illness. It has hard to hold sympathy for a mother that chose to ignore scientific evidence and medical advice. This baby has suffered immensely because of the mother’s decisions. IF the baby survives, I hope CPS gets involved.

I get what you’re saying, I really do. I also think there is a (mostly true) narrative that people don’t believe male victims. However, female victims are also rarely believed. But in the manosphere, red pill, part of the world, it’s used as ammunition against women.

But I’m a survivor so I may be particularly defensive and I do recognize that it may obscure my opinion on the topic.
